Guys, I just watched the newest trailer for Ghost Recon 3 over at gamespot, they didn't make it so when you stop moving you go first person, they made OTS go much, much closer to you character when you're not moving, than it is in GR2. Does anybody agree with me that thiss is an awesome fix? I think it will make the game so much cooler to keep the OTS view, just fix it. I believe the 1st person view will be used for sniping, and giving orders to your team mates in campaign.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior: Advanced OTS View?

I think so. It looks like Ubi has changed up the OTS view quite a bit this time around. After watching all the vids and wondering how the hell the camera is doing what it’s doing… I’m thinking it’s going to be a “smart” camera system or something.

The FPS view looks perfectly normal. Everything is center-screen and aside from seeing your weapon and the awesome motion blur when changing perspectives, it’s pretty similar to GR2. The OTS view, however, is much different.

The first thing I noticed is that your player is rarely ever center-screen… almost as if the camera was following the rule of thirds lol. It seems like anytime you’re next to something, the view rotates or turns away from your cover, giving you a better view of the area on your exposed side. So, for instance, when you’re leaning up against a wall with the left side of your body, the camera slides out to give you a better view of the area on your right.

That’s awesome for so many reasons.

When you’re running along a wall, you shouldn’t really be looking at the wall. That side of your body is already protected. Your attention should really be focused on the area on your exposed side, because that’s where any threats or the highest potential for a threat would be. I’ve always played that way, but I had to kind of strafe my player and the camera to do it. It looks like the camera just does it automatically now. A camera that adjusts your perspective, to ensure you’re viewing the area that poses the highest threat to your position, is truly a smart camera. Crazy. And very realistic. That's how the military teaches soldiers to think when moving through any area, and its pretty awesome (Im completely assuming stuff here) the camera will think for you now.

Another cool thing is that it’ll quiet some of the people who’ve been calling “foul” on the OTS view. You can’t really see around corners and stuff anymore. Your guy has to “pop out” to see around them. Watch the vids. He leans his back up against the wall or tree, the camera adjust to show more of the area on his exposed side, and if you want to see what is off to the side of that wall or tree, you have to move out from behind them. That’s pretty sweet.

Ya, the only problem when you have cool camera's like that, is they can be buggy if UBI/the developer doesn't watch out. If there's a spot UBI accidentaly put in that your soldier is up against 3 walls, it better not turn the camera around, that would be ******ed.

I like the new OTS view. I didn't like the OTS in GR2 as I was able to shoot over walls and rocks that my character's head was not even clearing. Not to mention the ability to see around corners.
