View Full Version : What copy protection does vegas have?

I would like to backup Vegas, but I don't know the copy protection software on it.

My DVD of this game is getting scratched from constant swapping. I do not intend to break any laws. I know our southern neighbors have the dmca to prevent them from discussing copy protection. We have no such law in Canada. I would like to know from a fellow Canadian how to properly back up my Vegas DVD so that it would work just as the original: As is my right to back up my $50.00 investment.

Or, much simpler, will UBI issue replacement DVD's for free or a very small fee? (shipping, blank DVD, and copying costs).

Footnote to Americans. This post would be illegal if I was an american. You guys might want to try to protect that sacred right to free speech that you THINK you have! I will probably be extradited for making this post and
breaking the law of the USA.

Haha..and it's only going to get worse for us. There is a vote in congress right now on adding more restrictions to our 1rst amendment. Unfortunately, we as the people, don't have any say. Freedom of speech my ***.

We are losing most of the freedoms we once had through "salami" tactics. They just keep taking little slices. Not quite enough to cause a popular revolt. But many of us notice it just the same. Would that we could do something about it.

You should be worried about the Harper government tripping over themselves to please their American masters and shipping you off to Syria for torture http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I never understood copy protecting a disk. Is there even 1 copy protection that can't be by-passed yet? Seems redundant to have any at all.
and venture you have a few choices, make a image file and save on your HD and use a virtual drive. there are many different programs u can use to burn it to DVD. blind write, nero ect. another option you may want to try is finding a no-cd crack.

worst part is if you revolt, you will be labeled a terrorist and can be held in secret w/o legal counsel or notification to anyone, for life. via the patriot act.

Thats just because people have forgotten that we greatly outnumber our government....and most people don't care about most things unless it directly effects them.

That part of the post was just a joke. However, the dmca makes illegal even discussion of circumventing copy protection schemes!

:O Will you be my preseident. XD

Xeno please look up "edit button" in dictionary.

I think what ya should do is change your game often, get it more scratched, then use it as a beer mat, that is all this game is worth.

If they can haul a kid off for making threats over Xbox live (threatening mortal violence in his school I believe), I bet they wouldn't hesitate tracking someone down making similar or other like threats on a public forum. Granted it's much more serious than "backing up" games but it would be "content" that would very likely get you arrested for.

As a matter of fact, It has happened and an arrest was made over internet threats. All it takes is a threat to cause bodily harm and you can find yourself in hot water.

Here is one case I've seen that is fairly recent

http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Entertainment/20060130-071029-6717r/

A forum user threatened that twit Chaunce Hayden in a forum post, and Chauncey ran to the police over it.

"We're not trying to stifle anybody's free speech, but it's against the law to threaten a man's life or threaten him with bodily harm," a Bergen County detective told the Daily News. "It's serious, and it's not something that can be tolerated."
