How the weather control works, I was shadowing a convoy, attack them with terrible weather (wind 15), run out of torpedoes and still have 3 cargos at a halt. Solution; wait for calm sea and finish them with deck gun. So I wait, wait wait... 9 days with a sea between 12 to 15. 9 days in a storm lol that is a bit unrealistic so I finnaly quit and reload and this time it tooks 3 days to get rid of the storm.

I Runned in 2 battleship in mediterean sea with time compression on, unable to do anything... Reloaded last save game, cant find these ships at the same location and time frame. Generated randomly ?

Where are the aircraft carriers ?

Weather seems to be a bit strange. Every time I go out on patrol the weather is superb for days. Half way through the patrol the weather turns nasty and stays that way until I am forced to go home through lack of ammo/torpedos/fuel. I have yet to see it get nice again.

I understand that storms sometimes went on for a week or two in the Atlantic, but in the game I now use up my deck-gun for the first half of the game since I know I will not get any use from it in the second half. I had to watch 3 lone C3 cargo ships limp home with one torp each in them, I hung around but the weather never improved and my fuel was running low. Weather definitely needs to be a bit more variable, like the real Atlantic.

in SH2 the weather never worked and it was always storm or clear. It appears in SH3 this has been fixed SOMEWHAT. No doubt it is a difficult problem to fix. The trouble may be that computer randomizers are not truly random. Most programmers know this. This trouble turns up in many PC games in the past and present. Without a true random event control certain conditions that one would desire to be somewhat random end up getting stuck always on or always off. Only things like real dice are truly random.

Well if you don't have limited fuel on you can hang about. I don't so I thought the same, that it never changes but it does, after a while. I was on deck once following a cargo ship when the fog lifted and it was a few yards in front of me, CRASH DIVE!

However, I suspect the ships don't unfortunatly sail back and forth as they should but are just randomly generated when your near by, which is a bit **** to be honest. And what happens to them when they get near to port? I take it they just disappear as there are no ships in any friendly port. And disappointed about alot of marketing ploys, movies, images to get you to buy a game, when these features aren't included. One such image is the passenger liner in a port somewhere, I think it was New York, that isn't there, I think you only ever see that liner if you do a custom mission.

I'm losing my love of SH3, unfortunatly.

No offence to the fanboys so don't jump on me for dissing the game.

Ah the weather. I've had incredibly bad luck with it. Last patrol i happened to intercept an unescorted convoy in the worst weather imaginable! Heavy fog, heavy rain, 15 meter per second winds... I trailed that convoy (well actually i stayed right in the middle of it, they couldnt see me beyond a couple hundred yards anyway)for 125 km and managed to sink a couple big ships. But i got fed up after the weather stayed insanely bad. Then on my current patrol i had perfect weather for the beginning, i got a convoy report but somehow couldnt intercept it, like it disappeared off the face of the earth, tried porpoising and everything. Then i get a report about another convoy about a week or so later, and i kid you not, not two minutes after i got the report the wind went from 0 to 15 meters per second. I couldnt find this one either, even though i got 3 reports on its position, and one when it was heading right for that strait between northern ireland and england. I stopped every 20 km or so to go to periscope depth and personally do a sweep on the hydrophones but never heard a **** thing. i would have waited till it was in the strait but there are just too many wandering destroyers. I have no idea how i could have possibly missed it. And now the seas are so bad i cant do magnetic trigger trops close to the hull cause if the ship hits a wave then the torp either goes under of gets deflected. Bloody weather...
