An improvement for moviemaking...

I asked in ORR for the ability to switch off icons in track playback and didn't get much of a response.
If they get recorded onto a track in FB they can not get switched off later. They can in IL2 but not FB. I have researched this extensively.

Another thing I requested in ORR was to be able to have a cockpit view for all aircraft on a recorded track, not just your own flight. Think how great this would be! You hit a bombers engine with your fighter and the bomber has oil smeared all over the canopy. You can't see this in track playback if you can only view your cockpit, but if you could view all other aircrafts' cockpits you could jump straight to that bombers cockpit view and have a great movie shot of that bomber with an oil smeared canopy. Or imagine if you took on another fighter head on. You would be able to have a view from that fighters cockpit with you heading towards it and and maybe filling the canopy with bullet holes.
These views would make a movie edit look great /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I guess all they care about in ORR is FM or DM. All well and good, but what about us rare breed of movie makers?

As it stands, if you want to get a cockpit view of another aircraft you have to pilot that bird and record a seperate track /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

For the sake of making movie edits easier and improving them no end can I see a show of hands for these two points.

Icons switchable on track playback and cockpit view of any aircraft!

Will this get a better response than it did in ORR?
Guess I'll have to wait and see

Maybe if we put it on our Christmas Gift List, and maybe Santa Oleg will add it to the next add-on.

Great idea for the moviemakers out there..but like you said..we are a very small group...our voices may never be hear! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

It would be a very useful option, I agree.

while we May be a small group, UBI would be wise to support us as there is GREAT potential for these movies to be used by UBI in their marketing efforts to sell the Pay Addon as well as the forthcoming flight sim's, such as teh BofB one next year(2005) (IF the UBI Marketing department ever wakes up)...

Bump scrag.

I know we are a rare breed, but surely this should be easy for UBI to give us. The planes are there, the cockpits modelled, it's just unfair that it is not possible (yet). If you search the gd forum for Eye Candy (one of my earlier posts), you'll see an immense library of goodies that the users of FB want. If these could all be instigated, we could do Spielberg out of a job.

And still we harp on (with justification) for the ability to turn off icons in track playback. Some of my greatest footage was caught online, but is unusable because of the bloody icons!

Looks like that's four scragbat. Thinks that's one more than ORR.....lol.

This is exactly why I asked for this modification my Mystic friend! I know exactly what you mean.
I have been in some pretty intense DF's online (like you). I tend to record an entire track of on online exploit so I can watch it back later, and when I do watch it I am blown away by some of the great escapes that myself and other pilots have managed. Not to mention the skillfull and often spectacular dogfighting that goes on.
A lot of what you see just can not be performed by AI, but only by HI (Human Inteligence).
I have wanted for a while to create a movie compilation of the best moments from online DF's. Or even a movie based on a single online DF.
As it stands though with the mentioned limitations of track playback I am unable to do this...

I just recorded a track of me and squad mate in an online dogfight mission. I really want to make parts of it a movie but the server had friendly icons on. Sure would be great to turn them off in the track and also get into my squadmates cockpit to witness the final kill

So my vote is yes would be great
