It might be useful to have a collection of raw footage in the form on .trk files on the VWC. The idea is that if anyone has a particularly spectacular track recording - say a Taran or a particularly difficult night time mission, and doesn't mind parts of his track being used in a movie, he should be able to upload the track to the website. It'd definately help cut down on the amount of time moviemakers would have to spend getting raw footage, allowing them to spend more time on pre and post-production.

Sounds like a good idea...I would suggest that in any final movie made by using such archived TRK files, that Credit be given to the 'creator' of the raw TRK file.

S! Everyone,
VWC is looking into the possibility of a raw footage area. I will let everyone know what happens in that respect.

If this does happen a very accurate description of what planes, equipment (i.e which guns, rockets, etc),pilot outfits and other such info should be added. Best if each track was zipped with a text file included to describe contents of the track. This should be posted as info on the messageboard with the tracks http address to aid movie makers so they don't download tracks that have planes that don't fit.
The tracks can usually vary from between 2-4mb, whcih for those of us with broadband isn't a problem, but we have to spare a thought for some 56k'rs and isdn, so this info would be vital in those cases.

I was thinking along the lines of the Paint Schemes website, where you can hunt up a skin by nationality, accuracy etc.. In an analogous manner, we should come up with definate catagories that we can use to classify each track. For example,
Type: intercept, bombing run, escort, recon ....
Setting: time of the day, weather,...
Types: aircraft types, gnd obj types,...
Accuracy: Historically accurate(implying that even the skins and nationality markings are accurate), plausible(implying that the incident might have occured), fantastical(do I need to explain this one??),...
The idea is that we should be able to search by these parameters, and also be able to request tracks matching a certain specification. So, ideally, there'd be a messege board as well, where you just list your requirements, and people producing footage that match your requirements will reply to your messege after havi ng uploaded their tracks.
