Okay, to jump from wall to wall while getting higher, Press 'r' to run up the wall and then press 'a' while pointing the control stick away from the wall to jump off that wall to the other one, you will get a little higher by doing this. Repeat until you reach the top.
Later on, you will do a variation of this in which the walls are further apart and you get a little lower with each bounce instead of falling to your death.

Make sure you hit the a button AFTER touching the wall.
