Many people are still having problems with avatars and my God I never experienced such complicated system on posting avatars for crying out loud. It's mostly the fact that non of the avatars we find work properly and we always keep on updating it. Don't start telling me that I haven't followed the instructions to the letter because I have !!!!! Why don't we just uploaded from our computer what the Hell is the difference !

I had a hard time too but I got it eventually - though I've always been trying to link a URL rather than upload one directly. Hit the "upload avatar" button even if you're linking a URL. And sometimes it might give you an error message but it still works. (mine should be working now... it seems to me to be...)

Yes, it gives the error message, but the avatar works. At least for me.
Occasionaly it dissapears and reappears again..

I hope this time my avatar stays!

Well I've found that they never actually disappear completely. Sometimes avatars just like to play hide and seek.

The difference between linking to an image already online (which is in fact what you do) and uploading one, is that to upload something, you need somewhere to upload it to; namely, the ubi server. Even little tiny images start to add up and increase the bandwidth used on the forums.

As for the actual system, I do admit it is a tad confusing and errorrorred.

I mean I never had such a hard time to load an avatar in any forum. This is just getting ridiculus, they should fix this **** forum once and for all !

Yeah, I know this isn't exactly the best forum engine around, but sometimes when life serves you lemons you just got to make lemonade. Resize the pic to 64x64 and try again.

Like a lot of other folks, I'm having trouble with uploading an avatar. I have one in my computer that I'd like to use but everytime I try to upload it, I get a "need permission" error.
I gather that the other way is to upload it to a site, eg UBI, but there's nowhere I can find out how this is done. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

P.S. I have set the picture size to 64 x 64 as I think this is correct...

The way I do it is that whenever I find a 64x64 pic on the internet I second click, I go to properties and copy paste the URL in the edit avatar on this site. The problem is that it always disappears whenever I post or come back in the forum. It's getting mighty annoying and the moderators know this and it keeps getting me angry!

Maybe you should try hosting your avatar at photobucket.com, that finally worked for me. It's rather difficult to take care of that gash if you keep running away http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

This is going to be off topic. But I really like Heroin's avatar, she's beautiful and I wonder if she's as beautiful as her avatar?

Nice to hear you like my avatar. If I look any good in real life depends on your conception of beauty. A subtle hint, my hair and skin are not lilac and my eyeballs not deprived of vital parts. So you probably won't like it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Speaking about looks, I hope you're not offended but...you've grown ugly Sal! where's that pretty face? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Oh come on! on a serious note how can my avatar be so ugly? is it because I'm an elf? In a woman's percpective it should be fine looking at least. And about your avatar I agree your comments on it, and I would like to email you.

Because you're an elf? I'm a HoMM fan, how can you think I don't like elves? It's just that from my perspective your former avatar had that thing going on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
Better to forget about the email for now Salventus. Let's talk might and magic on this forum and play eachother in Heroes V MP someday, what do you say?

See you around, my beautiful ugly elf http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
