They all ship Fall 2008. That's cool that us console people don't have to wait! I am a little bit more excited for far cry 2 than GOW 2. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thats because FC2 Will be far superior to Gears 2.

If you want to keep up with this game, you can check out the site i Admin. FCMAPS (http://www.fcmaps.net) We have a Far Cry 2 section that is updated daily.
This game will rule them all. Especially with a high end Editor shipping with it that will be supported with continual DLC.

Heeellll Yeeeaaahhh!

The editor on the first Far Cry was top notch.

I can't even beat the demo of the first Far Cry. I doubt I'll be excited for this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Lets hope you all get good FPS, without sacrificing, visual quality!

Cuz neither the 360 or PS3 are running Dual 8800 GTX! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

um...so.
Actually the games are going to be identical. The game looks to be a good time, but the Editor is the real draw for many.
Making multiplayer maps is fun.

I know there gonna look identical with all the normal settings.

Hell, 360 will run 4x anti-aliasing.

But

PC's can run the 20x anti-aliasing, there will be quite the visual difference. When applying, those beefed up features.

i, for one, totally care about anti-aliasing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

syke. anyway. i can't wait for this.. i've been missing far cry (and the people who play it). but ever since live updated FCIP, i can't get in any online matches. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I'll be getting this for sure. I am a true FC luva. My last great FC memory was on the xbox, when we placed second in a money tourny. Also, there were some great community nights from this forum on that game I believe it was Brim's FC tuesday. Times I'll never forget. The craziness was addicting. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I got the double game pack (with the 2 Far Cry games) and only liked the 2nd one. Multiplayer was annoying and I never got a kill. I love the artwork I've seen for FC2, though, and may buy it if the graphics don't suck.

Far Cry 2 will have a hard time maing it's presence felt this fall against Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 (hitting in November and September respectively). But if it's good I'll give it a shot.

Ninja, the Map Editor alone will get such a huge following that FC2 will outlast both of those games. The online community for FC is huge.

And the game will be sweet anyway.

Map editor/ creator is cool, but there is only one catch.

All of these user made maps, usually are horrible, & not even worth the hard drive space.

There is a reason these people are not working for ubisoft, actvision, EA games, etc....

Plain and simple 99.9% of people, make the dumbest things, so the map editor, is not even a + for me. counter Strike for example, why create a map with mario bros. tunes & fx? Thats just gay....

However FC is great & its using the more updated engine!!

Honestly, I think that's an exaggeration. From my experience with Far Cry Instincts, Evolution, and Predator, I agree that there are an awful lot of junk maps out there. But there are also a LOT of very good, creative maps as well. Even within the limited confines of the first editor, a lot of people came up with things never envisioned by the map editor creators.

UN-educated babbling.

I love people who have absolutely no clue how big the FC community is. Or the depth of presence via web based fc community websites that exist for the game and it's creative minds. The quality of created maps that I'm lucky enough to have on my hard drive is astonishing.

Instead of attempting to down creative people which some are in denial of them existing. Just be honest and say something like, "I don't like the game, cause I'm not creative enough to even make a good card house", and I'm angry cause other people can.

One thing not mentioned about the PC is that one of those GTXs costs as much as your console.
I'n not sure which I will get, most likely the 360 since I know of more people who will be playing it on there. PC, maybe later if it's good enough or if a friend gets it.

Wow. well here are some pictures of sucky maps i made (http://www.fcmaps.net/p/maps/maps.php?author.119) Check out the media on some of them. There are 9 pages of them there not including the Transformers one that me and a buddy made.

And i am not even one of the top map makers. /considering how limited the Editor was i made these.

ROFL, I am part of the FC community, & also Crysis! ROFL

Sorry, the amount of good maps is very few.
Its not always how the map looks, its how the map plays on certain gametypes.

Making a huge map, with alot of beautiful scenery, doesnt constitute a good map, & putting in a whole bunch of Hum-V's, & attack boats, doesnt make the map either.

Its all about the gameplay, if the gametype doesnt suite the map, then its horrible, plain & simple!

BUT hey NICE try on attempting to say I know nothing, bout the FC community, I own both crysis & FC, LOL.

(sigh)

Once again, you're wrong. Evil and myself know the difference between maps that look pretty and maps that play well. We've both judged several map contests, and we had plenty of maps that looked incredible, but had horrible gameplay.

But the fact is, there are plenty of very talented mapmakers out there who consistently put out good product. You can't judge the community by what you see on any given day when you see what's playing on the servers. Because if you do that, I will agree that 95% of what you'll see is junk. But to slam the entire community and say that there are only "very few" really good maps is wrong, and does a huge disservice to all those people who genuinely try their best to create maps that both look and play very well.

Mike, your maps are junk and play like cr@p...you hack! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Seriously...part of what makes them so fun is marvelling at all the insane things you guys come up with. Especially with the limited brush sets. Much Props!! I can honestly say that I've rarely played a $hitty map with you, Brim, or any of the others in the community.

Very exciting news, btw. Can't wait til this fall!

Thanks Mike.
I don't make to many big maps. I tend to make small strategic gameplay oriented maps. They also look pretty decent.
Just so you know Annexed, we on the consoles could only put in 300 pre made brush's per map. Yet the stuff that imaginative people have come up with is amazing.

Hopefully the new Editor that it comes with will allow a lot more. I have some major idea's that just weren't possible on the old Editor.

Understandable, but Im not going off of just what I see on any given day. Im going off of, what I have played in, & what ive seen.

If there are a great maps out there but, many people havent seen them, on any given day or played them. Then what would be the point, of creating such maps?

Im not saying all maps, suk as I have seen some that are good. Most of what I have seen, have not been worth the hard drive space, not to say that they were bad, but they are NOT spectacular.

ZEE: Your first map actually does look interesting, due to the fact that it appears to be small & compact, meaning it would result in a ton of action!!

However I cannot judge it, as I am pretty much full PC, unless were talking madden.

BTW, in the Crysis & FarCry community, I have quite a few people, & am part of a good group of guys called [760]. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif PC not console.

Yeah that first one is action packed.

I have one a couple of pages later called 10 9 8 7 6 that is set inside of a missle silo where one team has to rappel in from above while the other team starts at the bottom and has to work their way to the center of the silo and try to score the sample which is on the rocket, on the opposite side of the center ring where they start.
Really fun map.

I agree that there are a lot of **** maps out there. The good thing about the community, is that we work with the other people in our community to help them to create better battlefields.

I always wanted to use the Sandbox Editor from the PC version, but i am not that smart.
Hopefully the new version will be more like a user friendly version of the CRYSIS Editor.

That would be great.

Crysis, editor is great, tomatoes, i hear is working on a new map.

We are in the semi-finals of the incrysis nVidia crysis league, which is the largest crysis league in north america right now.

The inCrysis/NVIDIA Crysis league is proudly sponsored by NVIDIA, Alienware, EVGA, Hypernia, i3D and Dominance-Gaming.

So b 4 anybody jumps off the deep end, thinking I dont know what im talkin bout, and I am anti this & that, please refrain, & ask question rather then assume.

Zee: Thats what im saying, there are good maps, but they are far & few between.... Cant be just thrown together, gotta take some time & effort, which most people do not put into it.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from, annexed. The key to any modding community, I think, is finding out who has a talent for creating quality stuff.

Evil and I were fortunate to find a whole bunch of really good mapmakers. If you check out our site, fcmaps.net (http://www.fcmaps.net), there's quite a few people who have a lot of good maps.

From what I've heard, Ubisoft is working on some sort of filtering process for the next one, so that really good creations will get more attention, and you won't have to worry about joining a match that just features a giant ladder going into the sky with nothing but a crate at the end.

C'mon Doc, he lightened his tone a bit, and he's right to a certain degree, so no need to draw this out into a lengthy argument.

You guys already have. No need for me to help that. I'm just showing why it isn't even worth it.

In support of the thread and the game. Far Cry is still going to be an awesome game. It has in the past. The 40+ created maps that I have on my HD from the previous titles prove anyones statements and denial wrong. These maps are all better than the originals in the game imo. And. It was the map generator that contributed most in the longevity of the game and series for that matter. CONSOLE. Which is what the thread is about. I have supported the game and the communities around it. I know that they do exist in large numbers and that the quality inbedded throughout them is top notch.

Saying and admitting that there are bad ones is not even needed. That's true for everything in this world. Stop the redundance please.

Your right I used the words all & the key word, USUALLY!

Usually is the KEY word, that you should have focused on DOC. Now I know your tryin to draw me into an argument. Its not really a contradiction of words, more of misleading, cuz of the way that I type.

However im not worried, but your apparent discontent towards me, as ive stated in the past. I DONT CARE!

Go eat a tird!! Ill even give you a loaf of bread!

BRIM: Ill be sure to check out, your website, & take a look. Keep watching the incrysis league, we are in the semi's.

Thanx BRIM for tryin to avoid an argument, i do appreciate it! As thats not what im here for, & unless provoked, I have no issues.

Have fun! See ya soon! Got tourney?
