Got this game and found out it has the Star Force copy protection. I am boycoting all publishers that use this, (No more UBI for me).
PS I'm taking all my UBI titles to EB Games and trading them in for resale. That = 6 lost sales for UBI. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

That doesn't make sense. It's like saying I boycott BMW because they use Michelin tyres. At the end of the day, you'll be the one losing out. If your into anything military, UBI is one of the best gaming companies out there, considering they have Clancy on board and are willing to produce games like SH3.
...well, good luck to you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Worse thing I have with starforce is it messes up Roger Wilco if I have it running when I start a game with Starforce. So I have to adapt and overcome so I restart RW. hardly enough to deprive myself of the game.
I always said it's not worth seeking revenge or reaction if it's going to hurt yourself.
I'd make a terrible kamakazi.

Why not try Teamspeak instead? It is much better than RW and it is free ane without spyware (last time I tried RW it installed Gator on my PC unbeknownst to me).

I'm using an old version or RW long before gamespy got ahold of it. Got it back when I used to fly Warbirds online and a fellow Warbirds pilot "tone" made the program. Back then you got a free lifetime registration.
Since then he sold it to gamespy. I use it with fellow squad members who I still keep in contact with and play games other then Warbirds also.
We like it's simplicity and low cpu usage and it servers our purpose. I do also have teamspeak as well.
But the problem with Starforce is not the particular voice app, but more an issue it has with my sound card if I'm running any voice app when starforce starts up.

So how many people boycotted Ford. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
At the end of the day, boycotting companies because of shortfalls of OTHER companies they use, to me doesn't make sense. Unless you think they did it on purpose to frustrate their customers? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Despite what you have "heard" how does starforce affect your gaming experience so much you "have" to resell them.

Sounds a little like Starforce drivers being installed on ones computer unbeknownced to me? Doesn't it? You shouldn't have to use different software just because some SF softwware causes problems. Starforce should be able to get along with alot of different types of software if it's suppose to be such good copy protection and not be intrusive to a persons computer. You should not have to go uninstalling other peices of software just to make Starforce happy is my point.

Not like itâ´s the first time posted but : I havenâ´t had any problems with starforce whatsoever, weird huh http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
Maybe itâ´s something within your system that you are not telling us ? Something like ... ehhhhm ... illegal copies .... illegal burn-softwarez ? Those usually create problems within your system ... get rid of emm and itâ´ll
work fine (after a nice clean format).
I do find it a tad annoying Starforce doesn't agree with the use of Nero.

Prove it and receive $3000
So confident that Starforce is not responsible for problems, they are offering $3000 to anyone who can prove their software is at fault.

how fickle these forums can be... Like i said, sometime ago... I don't think it's starforce that messes up peoples systems.. It's when you have Starforce installed ontop of OTHER copy protections that work that same way, that cause drive errors and ASPI mishaps. For example, installing starforce ontop of CD_IlLA ( used by Microsoft) could most definately cause errors to frimware and software setups.

I have seen the subject of copyright prevention discussed in various forums, including our own. It is claimed that systems are slowed down, hardware is and CD/DVD drives are being damaged. These claims have caused what amounts to a wave of paranoia throughout the community about copyright protection, leading some to claim they will not buy any software that uses Starforce.
In addition to the above: Games that use Starforce
Website giving full coverage of Starforce and its alleged problems as well as a list of software that use Starforce copy protection.

The Starforce system is unfortunately rather intrusive. It uses some un-orthodox methods to determine if it's reading from a real CD, namely, it manually tries to reset the motherboards IDE channel, which some DVD drives/motherboards aren't expecting. However, I'm sure Starforce would tell you it's a problem with your hardware, and not their software, hehe. But, it probably is the most secure copy protection, even though I believe every game that uses it has been cracked. Anyway, I think Palladium will be much worse when it comes out, scary stuff there.
