Some how, I remember more people before ACR... And I noticed there's a lot of noob questions being thrown about out there, which makes me think we have a lot of people out there who are new to the series.

Is it just me, or do others have this same opinion?

Happens every time a new installment is released. Old members leave to avoid spoilers/play the game and never return while new members join to repeatedly ask the same questions and/or show their "appreciation" of the new installment.

I figured quite a few people left to avoid the spoilers. I know that's what I did. I'm just surprised in the fact that they haven't started filetering back in yet, as I thought ACR was a reletively short game. At that, I figured a lot of people would come back to discuss the game as it has been discussed already (the complaints). At that, I also figured a lot of people may not of returned for that exact reason.

That is what I usually do, leave to avoid the spoilers and the constant re-asking of the same questions over and over. This is the reason for the low post count since the time.that I had joined because I would only come back near the release of the next installment to discuss things. I only came back early to let people know that Amazon Canada had the AC Encyclopedia back in stock.

My only problem right now is that the intelegent, thought provoking conversation, seems to have left with the old forumites...

For one thing, people are playing catch up due to crowded release titles in November and October. Secondly, this is being due to limited amount of info that are giving out due to spoilers and what not. Just wait and see come mid-year give or take and this forum will comes alive. So do others too.

I participates in other forums too. I noticed it's dormant right now. I imagine studios and publishers are secretly making plans, gathering their best people strike at a drop of a hat. I'm guessing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Yea, I kinda miss the more intellectual threads that used to pop up here..
Everyone felt like a "Leonardo Da vinci" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
But now, the threads here have been reduced to nothing but complaining or asking questions that have been answered a looooooong time ago..

It does seem like a lot of people have disappeared. And it seems like threads don't pop up as often as they did before and if they do it's too often something like "Where I want ACIII to be" lol or "My game review" I guess that's why I've been posting less often myself.

I remember wasting weeks just reading the "intellectual" stories and theories from here. Personally from what I am starting to feel, I am starting to get sick of AC, something with which I was almost obsessed in March 2010 for example.

The lack of quality _as an experience_ of the post-AC2 sequels turned me off and basically I do not think there is much left to discuss.
Ubi has taken AC into a direction of simplistic let's see what happens next, like in a TV show.

They have digged out Subject 16, which only that would be like 1000 pages of discussions, have digged out TWCB, long story short, the story background has been minimized incredibly..
I know this is what should happen when you are heading to the last episode but ....

Saturation, combined with lack of WOW-ing and a mild disappointment made people turn away..at least the true veterans of this forum.
IMO

Imo I think familiarity and the Novelty of it wearing off are in the mix here and that happens with practically every game series.

Right now I'm playing ACII again and honestly, it's dragging for me. I think I'm in Sequence 6 or 7, but there's alot of slow stuff going on (which people nailed ACR for in the first 3 sequences... granted, it only has 8-9).

As far as excitement & creativity in missions, ACR wins in my book at this point.
I believe if they had gone back to AC2 days (scaling it back to basics) to make ACR, people would've had a problem.
It's been interesting for me to go back to AC2 after ACR this time.

I'm NOT bashing it by any means - I http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif it , just saying that in comparison, I find the later games to be offering more diversity and options that make gameplay more interesting & even challenging.

I'm seeing now how important the Writing/story are - alot of games don't have to have a strong storyline, but AC does.

I think AC3 will be the real test as to where AC goes. They have to amp up the writing/story & I think build some mystery & new questions.
Oh and the new Assassin's going to need to be amazing too.

The forums are in a complete state of peace for about a week, in that time period AFTER the effects of the latest AC game has died down and just BEFORE any leaked information/announcements on the next AC game. It's a nice week.

I'm just glad to see some of the incessant complaining die down. It was getting depressing.
I spent more time away after trying to add as much input as I could while I figured Ubi would be scoping the board for input..
then I wasn't on as much.
To me, alot of it wasn't constructive complaint, it was ranting & bashing and I didn't think Ubi deserved that (even if I felt the game was horrible).

Plus it's been a Holiday month... people are busy at Christmas & New Year's too.

What I noticed was that people ignored good topics & focused with the complainers.

I think it's a bit of a combination of the two. At that, it's really sad to see these aspects of this community die off. This community had such intellegent conversations, ones that actually made you think, and were thought provoking, unlike most other games out there.

I doubt they're gone . .
But if you think about it, alot of this stuff was already talked & speculated about for a long time and ACR really didn't do much in the way of creating new buzz & mysteries to start more conjecture on... it closed up Ezio's saga & he got his answers.

Basically everyone's waiting to see what AC3 brings & there will be news blurbs put out by Ubi on possible new content for ACR & AC3 info & that might make things pick up?

My visits to the forum have dropped off dramatically. That's partly because of how busy Christmas has been, with all the traveling and family get-togethers. But most of it is because of the mild disappointment left after finishing Revelations and the accompanying burnout I feel for the brand. I was so amped up for the AC brand after Brotherhood last year, and now after a year of anticipation, Revelations was fun but a minor letdown. I'm also very disappointed with the amount of bugs and lack of polish in the game, so I'm taking a break from even playing it until some of those issues get resolved.

I'd say another big reason a lot of people aren't around is because there's not much to speculate on anymore. A lot of the questions and theories from Brotherhood were rendered meaningless (such as the red footprint trail), or were not even touched upon in Revelations, so there's nothing new to talk about on those fronts. There were really no new mysteries created or new historical conspiracies that came out of Revelations, so there's just not much to talk about.

So it feels like we're in a waiting pattern until Revelations singleplayer DLC, Project Legacy updates (if ever), other side projects like The Chain come out, and the AC3 reveal coming in the spring. Until then there's just not much to talk about. I think a break for a couple of months will do me good and clear the air for what's to come.

Old school? Old school is snes, and sega,.... speaking of which, could you imagine a forum for the games on either of those?

I see your point, and feel kind of the same way.

It'll probably take a teaser for AC3 for everyone to pretend to be a forum of geniuses.

Before the release of an AC game everyones IQ magically rises.

I smell a contradiction. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

In 19th and early 20th century medicine and psychology, an "idiot" was a person with a very severe mental ******ation. In the early 1900s, Dr. Henry H. Goddard proposed a classification system for mental ******ation based on the Binet-Simon concept of mental age. Individuals with the lowest mental age level (less than three years) were identified as idiots; imbeciles had a mental age of three to seven years, and morons had a mental age of seven to ten years.[9] IQ, or intelligence quotient, is determined by dividing a person's mental age, as determined by standardized tests, by their actual age. The term "idiot" was used to refer to people having an IQ below 30.
