3.5 stars ain't bad, and can't say i completely disagree, though alot of us don't get to toy with the whole AGEIA PhysX thing like the reviewer did.
main quote i'm sure most may want to see is mentioned
Sadly, getting your troops to go where you want them can be hopelessly frustrating. Ideally, you just look at where you want your man to go, select the appropriate command from the menu, and click on it. If you're lucky, he'll walk over to that position and cover you; if not, he'll go somewhere else and report that he's "in position" or go on some strange route known only to him and expose himself to a hail of gunfire and die. Sometimes just following you is a challenge for your mates. On one mission, two of my guys got stuck on a hill more than a hundred meters away. It didn't matter what orders I gave them, they would just wiggle in place for a while and then apparently give up, resigned to stay on top of a hill for all eternity. Sometimes a trooper would walk into a wall and keep walking into it for no reason.
and another on save points mentions
You'd think that with all these gadgets, all the armor and airpower and guns, you'd be an unstoppable force, but that's just not the case. On any difficulty level other than "Easy," this game will challenge most Ghost Recon veterans. I like a good challenge as much as anyone else, but the problem here is how the challenge is created. The first problem is that the autosave system has checkpoints that are way too far apart. There were more than a few times when I'd take out two of three targets only to die attempting to take care of the third one. The most recent save point would often be so far back that I'd have to do the first two targets all over again.
and closes with a nice out going comment IMO
At its core, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is a solid game. It's easy on the eyes and one of the few options available today as a realistic modern-day squad-based military shooter. There isn't one big problem that keeps this game from becoming truly exceptional; instead, it's a collection of small issues that will likely cause a few moments of frustration and anger. Fans of the series can take solace in the effort invested to make the PC version unique, but you may still end up feeling a little shortchanged.
on a final note to those who may not know, GSpy usualy has a policy of playing unpatched versions of the games for review, so some of these issues (walking into walls at times and standing facing the wall like an idiot for instance) may have been weeded out somewhat already, though not much, ANYWHO
