Because RSE is not developing GR3 for PC does that mean GRIN will have to use a 3rd party engine such as HL2 or unreal (god forbid)
or will RSE lend them their engine for this title as theyre all contracted by ubisoft?
can anyone shed any light on this? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
I pray we do not get stuck with the unreal engines or HL2 engines.

It is my understanding that GRIN is using their own propriety engine called Diesel. I have never played anything from them (I just heard about them when y'all did). Does this bode well for GR3, hard to say. Until we can get some screenshots or a trailer, we will not know how it will run. We won't know how it plays until we get a demo.

There is a section on gr.net re the engine Diesel.

The engine will be GRIN's in-house creation, "Diesal", <STRIKE>but it must be noted that it will only power the Single Player segment of the game.</STRIKE>
From GR.NET News, dated May 19th, 2005:
NYR (GR.net's second E3 man) reports back from E3 with the following information straight from the Ubisoft booth!
In an interesting discussion about Ghost Recon 3 it transpired that Ghost Recon 3 is a <STRIKE>multi-studio project with different aspects if the game being handled by different studios. The multi-player aspect is being worked on back at Ghost Recon's birth place in Carolina by Red Storm Entertainment, using their own inhouse engine. </STRIKE>
The single player game is powered by a different game engine developed by a Swedish development studio, and we were told that visually it was stunning, as good as Half Life. The Red Storm team confirmed that the PC version of Ghost Recon 3 is well underway, possibly further along that the Xbox 360 version at this time.
One detail that we managed to tie down is that first person weapon view is an option, which will please alot of gamers.
[EDIT] Sorry for the confusion, guys, GRIN is actually developing both SP and MP segments of the game with RSE overseeing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

??? MP and SP will have 2 different graphics engines. That does not make any sense. GRIN must be making the SP game and engine, while RSE is doing the network code to work within that engine.
Also interesting is that if you do a search for GRINs Desiel Engine you would see it has a history of vehicle action games such as Ballistic and Bandits Pheonix Rising. I remember Ballistic was one of those flashy games that came out when DX8 was brand new and it was used to really show off graphics cards at the time.

GRIN is doing the entire game (SP and MP), the news post was never updated when I got clarification. From what I have been told the Xbox 360 game is being done on two engine, with RSE doing the MP portion.

Guys
GRIN develops the whole PC experience SP AND MP with the overseeing of RSE. We already know this to be fact.

Sorry for the confusion, i have edited my post accordingly.
I'm sure a few people in this forum would be glad to hear of the FPWV as an option.
BTW, what was that thing i've heard about "YETI"? Can't seem to recall what it was... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
I have no idea who GRIN are. Do they have a good history of making games? I'm feeling kinda down beat than RSE is not developing it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
