direct x 10 plus a graphics prob with vista

I recently got a vista pc with a sli geforce 8600. Know i have downloaded the latest nvidia drivers and have downloaded directx fromt he directx website. However it says it installs direcx 9.0c how do i get directx10?

Also when i run ghostrecon 2 it seems smooth but jumps now when moving. However when stationary its fine. I am runnning it on simialr settings to my old pc which was far less powerful. Could it be too do with my quad processor? if so how can i solve this?

Dx 10 installs with Vista so you already have it. GRAW 2 uses Dx 9.0c and if you haven't yet make sure you install it. It will not overwrite 10.

Stuttering is probably an Nvidia driver issue make sure you have the latest driver. Also you could let the game do the video adjustments and then work from there. Also some anti-virus scanners could cause that problem.

hi thanks for the help i have downloaded the latest driver but ad some problems and have no anti virus running. Perhaps the next patch will help. Tried turning of two of my quad processors but that didn;t help either.

Same problem. I've tried:

whql 158.24 - jerky
beta 163.11 - crash to desktop
whql 162.22 - crash to desktop

A friend of mine has the same version of Vista, same GPU, same sound card...no problems. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
