i think they were one of best creatures of old heroes games (including king's bounty) with unique speciality..

I doubt it, they were seriously overpowered...

Unless their specialty is modified by having the damage dealt become HP towards the new ghosts (like a vamp, but stack size isn't capped by original amount)...but then that doesn't make sense flavour-wise, because the death of a unit means a soul becoming a ghost, not the hp...etc etc...

Or maybe ghosts should just be level 1, with really bad stats, but keeping the special. With proper balancing, ghosts wouldn't be terribly overpowered...I wouldn't mind that at all!

Loved them....but it wasn't a fair game when you treat them like a peasant suckers. After a while they got REALLY powerful.
As a creature i would like to see them again.
As a deadly mass....nah.

I would like to see them, under one condition: that they were hardcoded to not under ANY circumstance being playable by a human player. So as special neutrals, that you only fight against. Reason being that they are far to overpowered to allow players to recruit them. Or gain them through charm, diplomacy and similar.

I would like to see them under this condition too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Similar to how they were treated in H2 (apart from not having any ghost recruitable sites http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif like in PoL) but no chance to be in a human player's army. And depending on how good the AI is, maybe not allowed in an AI's army either.

They are great (and tough) wandering monsters, but best left *only* in neutral stacks or neutral towns or events.

I join with Ethric and Stevenlynch. They should come back, but not into human players army.

Edit: Moreover, I would love to see again "haunted" spell. It allows to summon ghosts into mines (mine turns unflagged). Sometimes nice to annoy your opponents http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Or with the option to recruit only 1 ghost per week. But option to not to recruit them at all sounds more reasonable. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Considering their special, it matters not if 1 or 10 ghosts per week. Destroy undead spell from H1 (where ghosts were only undeads) could be a way to balance ghosts. It instantly killed entire stack, no matter of quantity (correct me if I'm wrong). But better leave them ultimately neutral than try to balance them.

Just as I corrected myself in last sentence. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I would also like to add, that it would be good that all haunted mines in heroes 5 have ghosts guarding them, not like in heroes 3 where there have been troglodytes. Heroes 2 haunted mines were better, IMHO http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I agree. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Then the only balancing that needs to be done with the ghosts is the number of them guarding each type of mine. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif And the size of the neutral non-joining ghost stacks.

Oh yes, the Haunt spell was really nice. Perhaps it could be usable on dwellings too? And a highlvl one, usable on towns http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif That would be nice, and fun. I think so, anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

New special win-condition: Haunt everything on the map http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Brilliant idea, it is more fun than the old "flag all mines on the map" style, but you'll need lot of spell points http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
But at least it will be interesting to see this win condition in some of campaigns. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

If it was to function the old way as in H2, casting the Haunt spell would make the mine neutral again. I think it would probably be better for it to stay that way, otherwise the ghosts would be able to be controlled by a human player (even if the ghosts couldn't be transferred). Unless there was a rule that "the ghosts shall bear no master" and the battle was just like human player vs. neutrals (or AI vs. neutrals).
