I dont know if anyone else has already mentioned it, but whats with the whole "turn" right and left, instead of the usual "rudder", the whole lack of a separate rudder control is pretty strange, and makes the whole flying experience less enjoyable for me. is it just me that thinks this, or is it a common thought?

This is apparently the shortcut in Arcade style flight games, and I'm afraid the developers choice for the future. Heroes of the Pacific has this rudder/aileron combo turning option, but they also offer full joystick control. Player use in that game is probably 50-50. To me it is counter-intuitive, and sloppy.
Apparently it is easier to grasp for the novice.
However, the developers designed Blazing Angels to be flown using the follow cam or target cam, and in that mode this control system actually works a little better. It is also why they don't have the cockpit view, because it wouldn't fit in with the whole "cool view" outside the plane, when finding your target in follow cam.

Yep, I think the "targetting" cam is a good idea. It brings the flight simm genre - from the nerd to the standard gamer - who just wants to have fun rather than "be an ace" WWII pilot (which you cant)
