From the TWL news page:

I took some time to talk with the games designer, Christian Allen. This man came from a military background, and used his knowledge to make GR2 even more realistic. In all I spent about 3 hours chatting with him and picking his
brain. Note that I’m a die hard PC gamer, and to play this on the Xbox was a very hard transition for me. I spent most of the time talking to the players and getting as much info as I could.

Let’s go with the look of the game first. This game goes beyond any game I’ve seen on the Xbox. This game puts the Xbox to the test with graphics that are crisp and clean. Being a PC gamer, I can only imagine what the game would
look like when set to 1024x768 or higher as opposed to the 640x480 that the Xbox is limited too. When I looked at the trailers for the game I thought it was your normal average FPS for the Xbox, I couldn’t have been more wrong! GR2 is
way more then the movies could ever capture in a game play video. Everything from the movement of the water, to the way the uni’s get worn as you play through the game makes the game stand out from other FPS on consoles. Another great feature that I noticed was, when you fire your
weapon, the guns muzzle flash was reflected onto the ground surrounding you. Also the explosions and dirt that sprays up from bullets trying to find your head. These effects give GR2 a realistic feel and sense of a battle ground.

Here are some of the Q&As:

1: Will the admins of server have the ability to restrict 3rd person view. Yes

2: How limited will multiplayer be as far as players? 16 to 12 depending on the maps. Most are going to be 16. And these smaller maps are only recommended being played with fewer players.

3: Will there be claymores and satchel charges? Yes, there are North Korean versions and U.S. versions of both.

4: Did you do any consulting as far as uniforms and weapons? Yes, they did some consulting, but Christian was a former Marine so a lot of it came from internal teams. They actually had a reinactor who worked on the character models
and the weapon textures.

5: How many maps on release? 24, including 15 single player maps and 8 multiplayer maps. But every map is multiplayable. On the other hand, some maps can’t be played in certain game type modes.

6: Will you be able to restrict thing like Lone Wolf? Yes, given that it would be a bit unbalanced the needed to put in a kind of clause.

7: When you pick up dropped weapons in the battle field, does the ammo for that weapon stay, or do you keep the ammo that you already have? You pick up the ammo count for whatever is left over in that weapon.

8: Will there be keyboard and mouse options for the Xbox version? No, they didn’t incorporate it into the development processes. There are options though, if a third party makers of Xbox keyboards, they would need to make them compatible to the game itself in order to make it work.

9: What are some of the differences between GR1 and GR2? The core essence of the game is still the same. 1 shot kills, tactical shooter, completing objectives. All the animation is totally new; the structure on how they built
the maps is new. The interaction with the ghosts is totally redone. In the last Xbox version there were 6 ghosts that you could put into teams, now you have 4 ghosts on one team as opposed to 2 teams of 3 or 3 teams of 2. All orders are now done in action, before; the game would pause as you handed out orders.

10: When will the PS2 version be available? Nov.30. with a different story line and a different time setting, in all a totally different game. Built with a different engine. The PS2 version will utilize the UnReal engine. With more focus
on multiplayer action.

11: Has North Korea had anything to say about the storyline? Yes, North Korea Gov. said that Christian would die a “horrible and gruesome death” But the deal is that you’re not fighting the NK Gov., your fighting a rouge Gen. who has decided to invade China. There is no mention of any Gov. Official in GR2.

Let me sum up by saying that if you’re a GR2 fan and a fan of the Xbox, this is the one game everyone must own. It not only stands out from all other FPS, but sets a new standard for all other Xbox games. And if you think the rag doll
death effects are good in RVS, just wait till you see these pixilated chars die. Get a head shot, body lunges forward, and the head snaps back. Get hit in the right shoulder and your body twists to the right. Down right gorgeous game!

Bring on the PC version!!!! Thank to Christian and Casey for allowing me to ask question and for giving us a taste of this awesome looking game.
