Hidden Hang Glider (SPOILERS)

While on holliday in France last summer I decided to start a second playthrough of FC2. That may not sound like much, but with somewhere between 80 to a 100 hours put in my first playthrough (not including reloads) I had already put quite the ammount of time in the game. I decided to take it even slower this time, take even more time to enjoy the scenery and play on infamous. I am happy I did, because on normal difficulty the scenery is about all you can enjoy as the game is just too easy. Infamous is just about right.

In any case I came across a hang glider in the southeast section of the northern map. It was extremely hard to reach (rockhopping only) and yet was not required to reach any diamonds. I had already got all diamonds, tapes and golden AK's from that section without much difficulty. This hard to reach glider was essentially useless. After some Googling I found there to be another "useless" glider in the northeast section of the northern map and set out to find it. So far I have not found it! I can not see it, let alone reach it, even though I am aware of its exact location:

Note that it is not the Goka Falls one, but the one to the east of it. Does anyone know how to get to this hidden glider?

all the gliders I have found all lead to diamonds except the goka falls one. I am unsure if I have seen one east of GK, must have another look. Would it be for the diamond on your map by GF as it is hard for me to get it. I did once a long time ago, but cannot recall how.

There is a glider in the rocks above Claes Products Chem. Corp. that doesn't really go anywhere except to the roof of the building.

yes I knew that one but still trying to find anything it might lead to, possibly camp to south of Dump??? diamond there

Maybe, but it's kind of far and the glider doesn't seem to have enough elevation to get there. Besides you don't need a glider to access that diamond case. Lord knows I've flown that puppy around enough that the best use for it I've found so far is to land on the roof of the building and take out all the mercs from there. The diamond that's north of GF is taken by a rock climb about 100 feet or so to the north of it. Kind of tricky to find but the way is there.

After the job at the Falls I walked the entire road east, and then south. I did not come to a glider until by the lake long past the southern bus stop. This glider, purple and silver, leads to the diamond on the near lake side shoreline. Launch and then as you come to the lake, turn left and glide and you will be deposited on the shore by the shack. This is in fact a long was south east, NOT east, of Goka Falls.

tip. wait till shore patrol is heading away from launch point north or your in deep brown stuff.

I have come across the glider EAST of Goka Falls up in the valley south of the Community house. It has only appeared once so its obviously programmed to appear in an infrequent randon way and its not high enough to go anywhere.

The Goka Falls one does lead to a diamond but not tried it yet for 'reach'. The diamond is on the rocks. Glide under rope bridge turn right above the riverside hut and rocks on left hold a diamond case. I will try it when I go back north for a laugh

I know about the rope bridge, the diamond there and the little hike, but that's not the glider I'm talking about.

That's odd though, no other glider in game is random, why is this one? Also, apart from the lack of height, there isn't anything of interest on that side of the map. It's flat desert really.

Maybe the Oasis was planned to be included in some bigger quest or so. As it is now, it is one of the most interesting yet underused places on the map.

But what exactly is the "community house"?

No actually, that's the ridicilously inaccessible south-east glider that leads nowhere (all diamonds and golden AK's in that sector are accessible without).

The one I mean is the one to the right in the north-east sector (see map in OP).

Still though, the one you posted really puzzled me too when I found it. There actually is another diamond higher up across the valley. I think that's what the glider is there for, but it can be accessed by what I would call "creative mountaineering".

I went to that safe house first, passing Goka on the way east, there was nothing in the valley except a dune buggy.

The glider is also useful in crossing the valley, its a tough way around it,

Precisely, it isn't there even though it's on the map. I tried reaching it past the explosives checkpoint. There are a few ledges leading up with a burned out car and a diamond. Then there is a small plateau that invites you to jump to where the glider is supposed to be, except you'll jump against an invisible wall. I've tried blowing it off, but explosives will detonate in mid air before they reach the spot, even if fired from say 5 meters away, so there really seems to be an invisible boundary there. Also, if you take out your monocular, you can see there is no glider.

Ok got a couple od buses from deep south to far north and got this far, cannot deem to get any higher. No sign of glider yet or where it might be if at all. I did get up the right a bit, but only just higher than the car standing on that rock to the right.

Yes that's the place. But have you noticed how the rocks on the right extend into a bit of a plateau, inviting you to take a running jump over the car to the rock on the left, and how the rock on the left forms a bit of a staircase to where the glider could be? Also have you tried firing a grenade to the place where the glider could be?

Ok, been there. Cannot climb that left hand side. Grenade goes right over the cliff and explodes (M79) and no sign of glider, mythical or otherwise. ARE you SURE there is supposed to be a glider there???

I never could figure why anyone would want to use a glider for a diamond that you just walk to with the greatest of ease......well at least after you take care of a sniper at a very close "Guard Post".

If I understand right ( IF? ) there is suppose to be a glider that could be used for this diamond posted in above pic????

As many times as I've played this game ( 102 as of last week 12/15/2011 ) the nearest glider to this diamond is at the east end of GF above the river and it's meant for the diamond below at the rivers end, or to fly west and under the rope bridge, turn north and then a little west to a diamond which can also be found just by climbing a few rocks. Glider can not make it to the diamond pictured above.

Sorry but I do not believe their is any glider meant for this diamond ( elbmek's pic above ). If so I need a pic please, as I'm always willing to explore more unviewed FC2 territory. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree with LG; there is no logic for a glider here at all. As for the diamond at Goka, I got it al ong time ago but never been able to get it since. Will try Glider when I restart game (currently in late Act 2). Actually can do it soon. I am about to visit Rueben in Act 2 at airfield, but going on LONG walkabout first which will include going north again for a blast up. Whooo!
