Automated Server Script + Kicking

Hey all,

I was wondering, since the new FC server program came to us. How on earth do you kick people now when its a dedicated server? You can't type into the server locally and i can't figure out a command for it remotely.

PB Power doesn't work now either.

Also, i have seen some servers with automated scripts that make announcements, where can i get this from?

There is a bug with the current server launcher which doesn't allow input, however a release is coming for that.

As for the automated "announcement" script, the Extender has this built into it plus there's a way to do this through PB, if I'm not mistaken.

Here is the Extender page (http://www.azchatfield.net/FarCry2/ServerLauncher/). Currently it doesn't work (since the new server doesn't take input yet). I have updated it to work with the new launcher, just waiting on the release of the fixed launcher to verify the Extender works then I'll be posting here and updating my website.

I you dont have a pbsv.cfg file in your appdata>Local>FCX>Punkbuster folder, create on using wordpad and enter the following:

pb_sv_task 10 300 say Welcome to my server

that will make that message auto scroll every 300 seconds (5 min) after the first 10 sec of each lobby sitting.

As for kicking/bamming, I think they have left this all up to PB with the new server app, so I think you may have to get familiar with PBwebtool. Everyone who has PB has the webtool, its just a matter of adding a few things to that pbsv.cfg file. I suggest going here for more info: http://www.evenbalance.com/publications/admins/

I wonder how long a new SL will take thou,
They seem to have busted as much as they’ve fixed with both SP and MP.

On that note I have yet to see the fire “bug”. I was playing Dirty Work
and people were burning the whole map up on both sides, I could hardly move till it went out.
Then it was fine, go figure.

On crashing, no hints yet, just poof without a trace, nothing in logs or windows events.
However I was in a game and someone said “later” in the lobby
and I said “bye” and everyone just started leaving.
I couldn’t find a single problem, no crash, nothing, wth.
Did everybody know it was my game, and thought I was leaving so the game was too?

Thanks for your replies guys. Its weird isn't it really.. how could they think there going to release a server program, without a) being able to kick and b) being able to control it locally ...

you can make people admin in your server with the pbpower.dat and the pbrcon.dat files

both are normaly not made in a fresh instal so you must manualy add these files
