Hi There
Im new here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I am wondering how well FAR CRY 2 would likely run on my laptop.

Here are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache
3GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated memory
160GB 5400RPM HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium
Latest Beta Drivers
Latest DirectX

I know Far Cry 2 isn't out yet but what is the estimate??

Also because I am running DX10 hardware will I be able to run DX9 with Vista and a DX10 card??

I run Crysis on 1024x786 on HIGH with shaders and shadows on Medium. It runs quite nicely.

What are the performance and quality estimates for Far Cry 2??

I'd say the only thing that might hold you back a bit is the graphics card. Otherwise a fine setup.

Welcome to the forums JamesHeadcrab,

Laptop wise, your spec looks pretty good. As Hanz H mentioned, it is only really the graphics card that will let you down.

The nVidia 8600M GT is not a terrible graphics card by any means, but you may have to drop the resolution to get Far Cry 2 running super smooth.(Like pretty much all PC games, you can tweak the settings) Nothing has been mentioned about the official specs for the game yet, but expect it to push some hardware. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Like they said you could upgrade to the 8800 GTX m which just came out (but can be a bit hard to get except from internet)

The 8800M GTX is a very good card but should money be an issue you can consider 8800 GTS...the The only difference between the 8800M GTX and the 8800M GTS is the number of stream processors. The higher end 8800M GTX has 96 stream processors, while the GTS version has 64.

Well im definately not upgrading my laptop at all.

All decent laptop upgrades are $500+.
I may aswell save that for a desktop with a 8800gt or gtx/gts.
