View Full Version : Can't launch via steam.

So last night I'm playing a battle mode game and my video card overheats and my computer shuts off automatically. When it cools off I start it back up and try to open ruse again through steam. The message I get is "the game did not terminate property, load last good configuration?" Clicking either yes or no results in the same error message popping up:

'"ACCESS VIOLATION"
000099_Ruse Final_29.dmp has been dumped for port mortem analysis."

I emailed Ubisoft and aside from the typical platitudes of "update drivers/update directX/virus scan/etc...." nothing they suggested seemed to help.

I also emailed Steam, but they seem to be on an extended vacation.

Anyone have a similar problem? solution?

I'm running windows 7 64 bit and everything as admin.

Try this solution which worked for few users:

Once the game has been installed:

- right click on the shortcut for the game (Create ashortcut on your desktop)
- left click on Properties
- click on the Compatibility Tab
- tick the box called "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
- select Windows Vista SP2 - click on apply
- click on ok

Now try running the game again...

I am having the same problem as iapofa. I do not know if there is any way to change this. I keep seeing post from people getting blown off by Ubisoft customer services. I hate wasting money and really would like to play this game. If there is something that can be done let me know pleas. I am running Win 7 64-bit thank you in advance for any help.

Don't right click on the shortcut. Go to C:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\common\ruse and there you should look for the RUSE.exe. Right click on it and change compability to vista service pack 2. If nothing else works then try just reinstalling the game.
