Are these not 19" LCD monitors? and even if they are 17" the native resolution is over 1024 X 768 is it not. They are certainly not CRT monitors.

10 players have not complained about resolution being blury and surely it would have been if the monitots were set to 1024 X 768.

Need a little bit of help here from one of you that played Saturday....Please. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You know, I was going to post this last night when I saw it but forgot.

I think you are right.

Those certainly don't appear to be 17inch TFTs (although, with TFT displays, 17inch is "true" 17 inch, while on a CRT 17inch is usually 15.1 inch viewable, IIRC).

Hmmm..

From BobTuck's SHIII gamers day report
"At this point I had already been told by UbiRazz that he's spoken to the dev. team about resolution issues and that currently the only resolution is 1024x768."

I believe the Devs made that statement but something is fishy. As I personally do not own a 17 or 19" LCD monitor ( I've a 17" Flat CRT @ 16.2" diag. view )but as I said if those monitors were set to 1024 X 768 they surely would have been blury no matter what the Devs said and no one that played has complained about this as far as I know.

Yes, about 12 inches usually, seriously though those certainly aint 17" well spotted guys.

Hmmm, they might be 17 inches.

Keep in mind that on a TFT, a 17 inch monitor = 17 inches viewable.

A 19inch CRT is usually 18-18.1 inch viewable.

Therefore, from a distance, a 17 in TFT looks a lot like a 19 inch CRT (with regards to viewable area).

On second thoughts and making a rough comparison to the keyboard size then 17" is probably right.

they were deffo 17" Guys but trust me the graphics are stunning and I could not fault them. even though it was only 1024

Weird. When I do the comparison I come up with 15" LCDs.

I've got a 17" (1280x1024.....) on my desk. I get *much* more overlap from my keyboard (as compared to the width of the screen) than that guy in the bottom right appears to.

Could be an illusion based on the angle of the picture. Different size keyboards could also play a factor, though I'm just using the actual key bed, which is fairly standard.

Anyway... I'm not confident enough to say "I'm wrong, you're wrong", but from where I'm a-sittin', it looks like those are 15" LCDs.

Nope - there's no way they're 15", as verified by hillgj1.

A.

Why should they be blurry at 1024x768. I play all my games on my 17" CRT at that res and none of them are blurry.

Guys, they're 17" TFTs running at 1024x768. Well, that's what it said on the box when we hired them anyway.

I have a 19" LCD at home that is the same phyical size as my 17" at work. The size of the housing the display is in can make a big difference. I tried playing games at 1024 on my LCD and found it be ok using the DVI cable. The difference between res. was more noticable with the VGA cable. The native res on my LCD is 1280.

Maybe I worded that wrong? I was not refering to a CRT, I was refering to LCD's.

I also thought a 17" LCD had a higher native resolution than 1024 X 768 and therefore another resolution would not be as clear especially the text, but I guess I am wrong.

I keep seeing posts about LCD monitors blurring when used at a non-standard resolution. However, I have a 17" LCD with a native resolution of 1280x1024. I've played lots of games at 1024x768 and I've never seen any noticeable blurring. The games may run slower at the non-native resolution, but I've never seen any blurring.

Then people with 17" LCD's will have no problem with 1024 X 768 unless they just want to B###h. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks Beeryus, I was not sure of the fact and you enlightened me. As old as I am ( I remember Noahs Ark----Or was that the Queen Mary ? )I learn something new every day. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, not necessarily. All it proves for sure is that I probably won't have a problem with it, hehe. Other people still might have every reason to worry about it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually, if you don't see any blurry while watching a DVD in full screen mode, is like you may not see any blurry while playing at 1024x768. After all, native resolution of DVD is far lower than 1024x768 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Since text character's will be of a reasonable big size, there is other possible blurry cause that will be missing.

And if you get a TFT with a native resolution of, say, 4096x3072, you may see it as sharp as it can be!

So if your 1280x1024 TFT looks blurry, don't be cheap and buy a better one! 4096x3072 may do the trick!
