The texture tearing is really bugging me in this game so I enabled Vertical Synching in the main menu but when I get into the game the tearing is still there and when i go into the in-game menu it shows the v-sync box as grayed out...

I can't get the v-synching to work in game even when I select it and click apply in the main menu..

Any help would be appreciated. Its probably something simple

Actually it's not something simple. It's a bug that it's not functional. It is being looked at for the next patch.

In the meantime, you can use the console command:

g_maxfps <number here> (ex g_maxfps 75)

to regulate.

Ah, OK.

So I set g_maxfps 75 in the console but there still appears to be some tearing. 75 is the rate used by my video card and is supported by my monitor so it should work....

Any idea when this new patch is coming out

I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing trouble. Hopefully you have already done the normal things (patch up to 1.3 for single player) (do not install 1.1 or 1.2...they are included in 1.3)) and have all the latest drivers for your hardware (chipset, video card, sound card.)

If you have done all this, I would start to look at overheating issues. Even though you might not experience overheating with other games, FC is the most graphically intense game to date (even being 2 yrs old.)

Lamoid, have you tried forcing v-sync in the videocard drivers?

Hi !
I have the same problem as you. I can't enable Vsync in Far Cry. .
I can it mark (the vsync box activate) in the game menu then I begin to play and I see vsync doesn't work. I exit from game into the main menĂ¼ and I see the v-sync box is blank. I doesen't understand it.
I tried bevor forcing v-sync in the videocard drivers also, but it doesn't work.
I mean, it can be a bug. What kind of vga do you have? I have a geforce 6800....

I am also having the problem. I just upgraded from a Radeon 9800 Pro to a Nvidia 6800GS. The problem seemed to start when I upgraded to the Nvidia. I will try to enable V-Sync in the Drivers and report back. It's a bug somewhere. I am running 1.3 Patch and the latest Forceware Drivers.
