Will there be some bayonets in end war? like if your men run out of ammo or something and so dose the other team both sides yell and charge. If there are bayonets make some chainsaw ones like in gears of war that would be soo cool. well it would be cool in general to see 100 guys chargin eachother in an all out bayonet fight!

Reasons why a chainsaw won't work:
<LI>They're too heavy and will severely through off the balance of the gun, making it harder to aim.
<LI>No modern weapon is compatible with a chainsaw.
<LI>Fuel
<LI>It's a stupid add-on that was meant to draw the vast majority of mindless gamers to the game due to the excessive gore.

That said, bayonets are becoming less popular among the military. I don't even think the XM8 can be equipped with a bayonet; I know the FN SCAR can't.
And few people are killed by the bayonet in combat. It's too hard to get close enough to use it without getting shot.

But with a morale system bayonets would be great, because as to quote Patton: "Few men are killed by the bayonet, but most men are scared by it. So when the shooting starts, the first order should be 'Fix bayonets!'"; or something like that.

Don't mean to be mean, but I definitely agree with what Pointandclick said about the chainsaw, it has no place in Endwar or any realistic wargame.

Regarding bayonets however, I do know that a Salvadoran soldier back in the early days of OIF fixed bayonets when their positions were getting assaulted by Iraqi units and the Salvadorans had run out of ammo.

Here's the link:
http://www.geocities.com/equipmentshop/bayonets.htm

And of course there was the British Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders who closed with the Iraqis in Najaf. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004223179,00.html

Just like the first link mentions if you have the patience to read it, modern battlefields are increasingly in urban terrain where sensors may not always be able to detect the enemy and you may at times run out of ammo, a bayonet charge does take some gumption, however it definitely crushes enemy morale to see such an act of decisiveness. Strength of will is key to many victories in battles as history has shown. Anway, enough of my blabbering. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Well i know in reality there wont be a chainsaw bayonet but it would still be cool when you see your men fighting wit bayonets. I agree with pointandlaugh with the moral. If you have 100+ soldiers charging at your men with bayonets screaming a war cry id be scared ****. "Bunzii!!"

bayonets are effective for combat fighting in compact zones like in buildings where u may not be sure if there is someone around the next corner.

The australian army still actively train in bayonet fighting. they use the austeyr, which is the australian modified version of the steyr aug a1

you said it good. chainsaws in this game is possibly the stupidest thing ive ever heard of... if you want to slice people up with a chainsaw either go play grand theft auto, gears of war or go down to a hardware store.

Chainsaws is the number one reason why I hate Gears multiplayer. Shotguns are my second reason why I hate multiplayer. When a game is fine the way it is, without spamming stupid things to get people's attention, then it is good. If somebody could invent a military mini chainsaw which could run off of electricty or a reliable source of energy for close combat, then it would be acceptable.

its a chainsaw!!! it's stupid who the hell would make one?!?!?! anyways it would find itself on the geneva conventions ban list lol. like alpha said if you want a chainsaw go down to the hardware store.

A chainsaw would also be way too loud. lets say you have some soldiers behind enemy lines and they want a stealth kill with a bayonet. A chainsaw would let the enemy know where they are before they get close enough to make the kill

It would take a lot more time to saw someone in half when you chainsaw someone. Meaning you leave yourself open.

yup yeah it's just a simple poke with the bayonet to put em down http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I don't think it will work considering it's CQC (close quaters combat) so your troops will get shot before they get close.

LOL us brits must be bad i mean we were always trained that in CQC urban enviroments to keep a H2H weapon ready but clearly bayonets are battles over open countryside charing an enemy with a sniper rifle you never know they may just run away. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

Now that ive finished having my psstake maybe u cud tell me why a bayonet would not work in the enviroment that it is best suited to.

Yes you should always keep some sort of H2H weapon with you, It's unlikely you'll get a chance to use it but if you do get close enough and they don't have one then they're done for.
Put simply it's unlikely that you'll get a chance to use it but if u did it would work.
