I am destined to suffer. No matter how good my day is, (yesterday was good) i seem to end it on a bad note.
Yesterday i had the best day for business at my new location that i have had so far. I took in a $1400. deposit for a custom painted motorcycle. CASH! That is a way to make a day good right?
So i share this news with my wife who is obviously happy since you know, times are tougher with the economy so we have bills on top of bills.
Anyway i get home from work and i plan on watching a DVD that i rented(Sweeny Todd) and then blowing stuff up. Instead we turn on our nice Samsung HDTV and it doesn't do anything. The screen stays black and then this sound that reminds me of a 50's sci-fi movie sound effect blasts through my surround system freaking out our pets. (it took almost 45 minutes to find one of our cats.)
Now i am stuck with a $40 13" blurry tv that i have in the office to listen to the news on while i draw.
Sorry, i know this is a pointless thread, but i needed to vent.
I am going to go stare at the corpse of my HDTV and think EVIL thoughts now.
The damn thing just went out of warranty a couple of month's ago.

Sorry to hear. That really blows. Give Samsung a call. All of my experiences with their customer service dept. have been very positive. Maybe i'm being overly optimistic, but you never know.

What kind of HDTV is it? Rear-projection? The bulb in mine blew less than 6 months after buying it, but thankfully warranty still covered it.

Its about six years old. Its an early Generation HD Monitor with a tube.
Well i have been wanting to upgrade for a while so... I won't be getting anything bigger than a 36" because i have an Amoire that we keep it in so what should i get?
Plasma or LCD?

That sucks bro. To answer your question, I think people are starting to drift away from plasmas.
I remember playing Halo2 online on the small 13" tv we have in the basement when I first got my xbox working. It wasn't fun, but a nice challenge.

Depending on what you want to spend, and judging by the bills I'd say not much, I'd say go with the LCD, Zee.
There are some great budget brands you should check out including
Olevia, Vizio, Westinghouse and Sceptre.

Sorry to hear about this Mike.
I have a Panasonic 52" rear projection and a 42" Vizio LCD Flat Screen. The Panasonic I have is 8 years old. They are a reliable brand for me. The Vizio has a very beautiful vibrant picture. For the money, I would recommend either of these brands.

Damn stupid TV! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif Last night about 9:30, i was thinking damn i wish this tv worked so i could watch BSG. I walked over and turned it on...and it worked. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Why now after the last twenty attempts at it failed?
No worries, something is wrong and i have Consumer reports magazine and it has a good right up of HDTV's. We are going to look around and will eventually get something.
LCD-42" range.
I have seen the Vizio's and they got a decent writeup in CR so maybe.

I also recommend Vizio, we have the same thing as Doc.
All those comments about me never having had a RRoD can finally end... we decided to sell a 360 and modded Xbox in order to take the money and buy an Elite. So, I puts 'em up on Craigslist, a guy comes over for the 360 (a launch unit) and I power it on... to the infamous Red Ring of Death. Mind you, it had never happened before, but happens right when a guy comes over to buy it! So, we ended up selling him our other 360, which he was cool with. I called Xbox, gonna mail it in, etc. Good news though, is that we also sold a modded Xbox, found a new Elite on CL, and bought it today. So, now we have a bricked 360 up for repairs, a brand new Halo 3 Edition 360 and a brand new Elite 360. Oh, and a modbox that basically sits there, waiting for us to go on long car trips, which is the only time we play it (on a 7" portable DVD player screen).
