Would you really make more money from a poorly designed, poorly implemented condsole port, rather that focusing on making good PC games and porting THEM to consoles? Any thoughts on this?
This is something Ive struggled with since we came to the relization that this series is now console.
BTW anyway anyone have the figures on how much the average console player spends a year on console titles? Thanks.
Heh I dont own RS3, Black Arrow, Lockdown(console), or will own Critical Hour or Vegas LOL.

The simple fact is... I think they are getting REALLY bad business advice from people who really don't know the market.

Take it from one who has done a business and made multi-millions in less than a year.

You need to listen to the people who know. And ignore the people who don't.

I think that UBI has failed in the endeavor to know which is which.

Well, if Mr Ed is saying, "Trash the PC line of games, completely ignore ANY input from ANY knowledgable person and completely ignore the wishes of the customers", then yes....

I would have to say that Mr Ed is a complete horse's @ss when it comes to his advice to Video Game executives... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yea, I know he was sarcastic..

My apologies to you, PimP_STAF, if it appeared I was jumping on you. I wasn't. I was trying to make a joke and it does look like it didn't go over well. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

What boggles my mind is the *apparent* complete lack of business sense that is being displayed. Everyone touts the line "UBI is a business and is out to make money" which implies that UBI can do anything it wants to it's customers and we (the customers) simply have to accept it because, after all, "UBI is a business and is out to make money".

But that line rings even MORE hollow, because it appears that UBI is making VERY BAD **BUSINESS** decisions as well. It doesn't take a Business Major to see this.

I just really have to wonder who is giving UBI advice and what that advice is. Like I said before.. I really hate a mystery. And UBI's actions are as mysterious as they come.

The point is that "bottom-up" ports are much easier to handle...

Its easier to develop a game on a lower platform and polish it up for the more powerful one than developing the game on the high performance platform and remove features / downgrading graphics...

But Hitman: Blood Money for example is developed for pc and ported to consoles. Maximum quality for pc gamers! That's the way i like it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just look at the numbers. How many more console gamers are there than pc gamers? They are both completely different markets that have different "demands". UBI, bad business or not, "supplied" the pc market with a console game. IMHO. I totally agree, somewhere down the pipe some one got some bad advice and made a bad call. Bad business decisions happen everyday. UBI or whoever makes pc games will hopefully realize this.

Me too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Fortunately the same will happen to FEAR sequels (see my sig).

That's nearly exactly what I said. And it was followed by accusations of "PC SNOB" and "short sitedness" and "narrow mindedness".

The simple fact of the matter is that they are COMPLETELY different markets. UBI knows this as well as is evidenced by the dual Dev teams of GR:AW...

Why they tried such a snow job with Lockdown and those who complained about Lockdown, is really beyond my understanding.

Again, I am hoping that GR:AW will be a singular phenomenal success. This will show UBI better than any hundred "Doom Saying" posts from the community that they CAN make money from PC Games.

Everyone here better hope that LD turns out to be a bad business decision. Commercial success in a different market demographic means that the future of R6 is DOOOOOOOOOOOmed! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
