View Full Version : We are at the 4 month mark!!!

BilBoTeaBaggins

Welp, here we are. 4 months and 102 pages latter. We have less players online then any game i can think of, and even added a few problems that weren't there upon release.
Where most companies would attempt to fix their problems before attempting to add new features, we seem to have given our money to one that will consistently leave us scratching our heads in dismay.
A company where big announcements will ,more times then not, turn out to be big disappointments. Your big announcement gives us a taste of what we want, and then tears it from our grasp moments latter (highstakes mode).
The ranking system has become a joke, PB execution is a joke, and then we still have the sound loop to contend with.
We have mods that come in just to inform us that some piracy link is being investigated by upper tech when they should be spending time fixing their problems instead and the mods should be communicating progress to us and not just coming in to lock posts all the time.
I suppose the game is dead so there really is no reason from a buisiness pov to waste time and money fixing your problems, and i would imagine that there is an announcement coming soon where you intend to completely kill support for the game. Just remember that we will all remember what happened here and the chances of any of us buying your next game will slim to none.
Ill say it again....4 MONTHS!!!! What gives???

Atleast I'll have my retail copies of Vegas and Vegas2 to put up on some display case alongside a "Remember Ubisoft" placard if I one day have my own game developement studio...

So by reading your post I get a feeling that your opinion is that this is typical of Ubisoft, and that 4 months in and the game is still not "fixed" is something that we should be able to expect from Ubisoft by now (that the game is fixed and all) I partially agree with you on what you say, but the reality is different, we can not expect a fixed game in 4 months by any publisher anymore. This is actually true, the only exception that comes in mind to this is Valve who has REAL customer service. Look at ID, Activision, Epic, EA and many more they have all released games with tons of bugs and very little support. SoF Payback was and still is nothing less than tragic and so is Medal of Honor: Airborne.

There's no company that sets the standard any more, hopefully Valve will now that they have started to seriously move into the console market. Ubisoft in my opinion is actually better than some of the once listed above as i.e. EA

Lot's of the games I have are still unfixed and lots of them are in worse shape than any ubisoft game I have. We are as a customer entitled to expect service, so this post is not meant to make your post less valid, I'm only talking about what is the reality today, no games are fixed withing 4 months at least not a PC FPS with multiplayer, it just won't happen any more.

And all of us that have been gaming for a while do know how many years it took to fix CS, to fix QIII, to fix RvS etc etc the only difference between then and now is that the games did actually get fixed at some point.

I'm upset by the last patch to, it was a half assed attempt to give us something new and exciting and it didn't even work for PC's (dedicated) The 3 maps where ridiculous and where only there to make it harder for us to shout on the forums. Honestly this could have been any other publisher giving the exact same. It's sad.

Again, please don't misunderstand my post, I am not trying to make your post less valid than it actually is.

I have noticed Ubisoft has made a technique.
Make a game and then dump in the *EDIT* and move on.

I've seen more Development and debugging out of a Game Boy Cartridge. it's seriously the saddest thing i have seen and i have seen "The Crying Game"

If this doesnt get better i'm going back to Guild Wars and leaving Ubisoft in the freshly dug grave it has so proudly dug for itself.

How should we communicate when we have no information? We don't work for Ubi. We are volunteers. We don't get any more information then you do.

"Why fix the game?" after reading Mysticalys, post it made allot of sense. But you have to look at the first part of my first sentence why fix the game? it cost's money and if they sold the patches well holy hell it would be holy war against gamers . So instead of fixing it they will build a new game and try to fix any thing wrong with the previous game before, because then they can sell that. So if you were an owner of a company would you want to make money or have this awesome game when people only paid 59.99 $ for. Prue economics really screw the consumer feed 'em BS or give em a little bit and say see we do care when its a crock.

mr hanky-
The file was removed from the site over a week ago now and the matter is being thoroughly investigated by senior tech support managers here at Ubisoft.
that quote was taken of ubi.vigil and note how he says "here" at ubisoft. The simple fact that ubi will put manpower into investigating something that saved ubi a whole lotta support emails instead of putting the man power into fixing problems that have been around since the dawn of vegas 1 or even perhaps some of the new ones from the latest patch.
Note that it is your manager that has a connection to tech support, and from the sounds of it he is in the same building as them. I assume that ubi.vigil, being your manager, has contact with you and the other mods???

Ubi.Vigil is an Ubisoft employee. Meaning he gets paid to go to work for them every day. Once again, I am a volunteer. I do not get paid by Ubi, and I do not go to work in their building.

UBI's mistake has always been they did not have an UBI employee monitoring these forums.

That is why nobody cares.

UBI's mistake was they took a good game series and a good company name and turned it upside down.

Bring it back to 2004!

As much as I enjoyed the Rogue Spear series and previous Raven Shield was by far the best Rainbow Six title ever made to date.

You have to be kidding. What were you playing, Rainbow Six on the N64?

I'm going to be the odd man out and say I love this game. It's all I play. I don't even play MGS4 because I can't customize my character. Is it realistic? No, but a realistic game wouldn't be as much fun. I've played ultra-realistic mods for games (Battlefield 2, Joint Operations) and they're all right, but I always go back to the original or another mod. It may not be all it's touted to be, but it is certainly a tactical shooter.

WhiteKnight, and I as well, were both playing it on the PC. Where the series started.

I'm not talking about the series starting thought...I thought it was amazing in 2004 because EVERYONE play playing it...even the people who didn't like it played it and wanted some thing to play [what everyone was playing] before Halo 2 came out.

I agree with the epic series begging on the PC, thought.

I am talking about going back that far as for me, once Ubi started using the Unreal engine, Rainbow Six lost the R6 feel. While the RSE engine did have a few problems, they were working them out and the engine gave the games a certain feel that is not there with other engines. Unfortunately, we will most likely never know as RSE will most likely never develop another R6 game again. Shame.

All i'm asking for is 5 minutes a month. For a developer to logon give us some updates on how things are going and log off. Is that too much to ask? It's the least they could do for the people that put food on their childrens plates.... The lack of information on here is unbelievable.

5 minutes is pushing it, but we did receive an :Exciting News" announcement in June with no further information.
(Not from a developer)

Then an announcement on July 1st. that a funpack was being released!
(Not from a developer)

Yep!! That turned out to be really exciting!!!
A patch with little content, (and more problems) and 3 maps .. 1 old map from Vegas 1, and 2 darkened maps that we already had in Vegas 2!

I can't wait to see if we will get another announcement next month!!

I have about given up on this franchise.

It seems the powers that be do not care about making things right with the gaming population.

As a small business owner, I do not understand the lack of caring on their part, and standing behind a product they have sold.

I know you guys are volunteers, but could you at least ask this question: "Why did you release an illegal crack, then LIE to your customers directly that the file?

Ever since this debacle with Vegas 2 and the amount of time I've spent fixing the game to work on my system there is no way I'm buying any of the upcoming Ubi games. This includes Far Cry 2, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Hawx, or Endwar. They all look and sound like great games its just am I literally weary of fixing newly released games from Ubisoft. I don't won't to endlessly scroll through forums anymore trying to fix a game that should run fine on a really great gaming rig I have. And no I won't consider getting them for the 360 since I'm a PC gamer first. You lost another one Ubisoft!

my friends list used to be packed for months with people playing RSV1. then when RSV2 came out, it was packed only for a few weeks. now, all of those die hard RSV players wont even touch it anymore. RSV2 could have been one of the greatest games.

the high stakes mode is good, but imho, should have been included in the release of 2. and the map pack? they think making the sky darker on 2 maps that were already in the game and redoing the casino with worse graphics is going to make people stick around.

ubi (and dont get me wrong, there are other companies out there) need to stop forcing unfinished games out the door and actually stick by and support their products. it feels like they pooped it out and said "okay, now whats the next game thats going to be released?". and when we started complaining about it, they pulled someone aside and made them throw a few DLC's at us in hopes to shut us up. i wanted new map packs like the red and black ones from RSV1. ones that actually have to do with vegas.

i personally will never buy anymore ubisoft games until they stick by their FINISHED product.

That is what we call an Urban Myth now-a-days since 360 customers are having as much fun as PC customers when it comes to glitches and bugs in their games.

I don't own a the PC version, I used to play it on the PS3.

It sounds as if nothing was better for you guys either.

I still play some Co-Op T-hunt with a friend every once and awhile, but I avoid the adversarial 100%.

I just don't understand how COD4 can get it so right online, while RSV2 fails miserably.

Thank God for Hardcore TDM, but man, I miss the customization features on RSV2!!

First off, I disagree that many other companies show the same lack of support as Ubi. Sure there are a few, but consider: COD4 has had SEVEN patches to date, and was never really incredibly buggy to begin with; 2K issued a major patch for Bioshock fixing the FOV issue many complained about and REWARDED the mod who wrote the code; Bethesda, while their tech support may or may not be iffy, at least supplied a Mod kit for the last few Elder Scrolls games so that fans can create and fix any issues they have themselves.

So far I still get sound loops, still get spawndini's behind me, and the FOV is still horrific to say the least. Nothing got fixed except stuff that wasn't even asked for.

Secondly, Mr. Hanky, I think you're proving everyone's point about Mods not being around, so far you've chimed in several times saying you're not an Ubi employee but many others are, yet you're the ONLY one here addressing this post.
