My Maxtor SATA 250Gb /16Mb buffer is not being recognised so I cant install Windows.Ive got a DFI NF4 Ultra D.The exact same thing happened the last time I built a fresh system.A local tech guy helped me out then ...not sure what he did and lost his phone number!
Think it may have been RAID related even though I dont run a RAID system. In my last system whenever I uninstalled some RAID controller I would be unable to get started/boot.
So anybody any ideas?Im dying to start using my X1900XTX.Thanks!

Included with your mobo is a SATA driver floppy. This is esssential for the operation of your Maxtor hd. Below is one of the very first screens you'll see when installing XP. Press F6, and the use the floppy when requested during the setup. You may want to make a notation of this in your mobo manual for future reference. Have fun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

There is a "SATA RAID Driver" floppy with the MOBO BUT i already tried what you suggested with no luck...I even tried an old Maxtor SATA driver floppy but this newer version (16Mb) must be a bit different in the driver department.....

When i got my Gigabyte board,it did not come with a SATA drive floppy.I had to download from the Gigabyte site. You 'might' have the driver on one of the cd's you got with the board, you will need to make a floppy
