So I would like to ask you UBISOFT, are your Decisions for Game Direction and Gamplay Elements in anyway Influenced by us the Fans?
A Recent example by Retro Studios: Developer for the Metroid Series, said in a Video.
Will you Ever See Dark Samus or Phazon again?
Do you want to See Dark Samas or Phazon again?
Its up to the Fans!
Our Gratification is when we read those Message Boards, and we hear how much fun People have playing Our Games.
When Retro Studios Develops Games, the first Audience we think about are the Fans of that Series. And that is what drives our Gameplay Decisions.
I Think we Did something the Fans will Like.

Well just look at the '07 build and the new build. Apparently they did listen to the fans even if it was begrudgingly. I think the reason why they changed the build was business than loyalty to a fan base.
That said, I am still grateful to the change to a game, that at least still resembles Splinter Cell. They put back a lot of things that were good about Splinter Cell, and made many improvements.
When I was very vocal about the '07 build, the opposing views said I would be against any thing different then SCCT, they all now stand corrected.

Oh, yes. Definitely! Ubisoft's people are saying that all the time, in interviews and such, if you talk to them on events. Fans, gamers and press alike have certainly influenced how the game shaped up to what it is right now.

When we find out more about the multiplayer, then we'll *REALLY* see how much they listen to their fans...

WHile the 07' build did recieve negative feedback i think the main reason they changed the game was because they realized that it simply wasnt going to work out as a game. It hadnt been planned out very well and they had wasted alot of time and money develping an incomplete thought.
SO they went back to the drawing boards, built a much more mainstream version of the game that was still a big change for the series but in a netter direction. Then they showed it at E3. Reception was great so they decided this was the build to go with and have set out to develope it thoroughly.
Fans have been offering plenty of request and questions but i think that right now they will disregard many of these in favor of finishing up the game regardless of how good the idea is. Im just hoping they put these suggestions into effect in the next splinter cell. if there is one. Im not too sure how this could end with Sam rejoining the government. I dont know, maybe he will go on another bloodthirsty rampage against someone else. or a new splintercell(which i dont want. i love sam).
everything above is hypothesis. I dont know the story behind the developement. it just seems plausible.

Not in a direct manner.
It's moreso like this : results of marketing 'research' & trend watching will steer decision of a publisher in a certain direction. Simply put ; they will
adjust a game to a style & concept, THEY think will sell bigtime amongst the masses, i.e. beyond their original target audience.

I agree with this. With all the delays now is not the time to start adding or subtracting features; too risky from a schedule standpoint. What's done is done. They are just going to take what they have, get it working, maybe polish it up if they have time, and ship. This project has been a borderline complete disaster and they need to put it behind them and move on. If it sells millions of copies and recoups its costs then so much the better but missing the holidays is going to make it tough to move that many units.
Multiplayer? Still a big question mark.

Once again. Knot3D is spot on.
