This question is sort of about SCCT, but also about my Xbox console.

I got my Xbox in 2003, never been abused or anything, and I noticed with games like Splinter Cell, I ahve been getting rare instances of what I would consider to be "Lag" on a computer. Every once in a while it freezes up for a split second and unfreezes. Am I going to have a lot of problems with SCCT on my Xbox if I'm getting this kind of stuff on SC1 and 2?

Depending on what you guys tell me I may buy a new Xbox console.

You may just want to spend 5 bucks on a laser lens cleaner. Chances are it's just reading the discs slowly. If that doesn't help at all, ah. I guess get a new one, but I'd still say to hold off and see whether or not you have these problems with Chaos Theory. None of us can tell you whether or not it's going to make a difference. Better to safe your money until you know for certain.

Good luck.

Yeah try the lens cleaner first and if that doesn't work then it's that crappy Thompson drive at work, which means you may have to get a new one, be sure if you buy a new one to buy a new one because if you get a used one it's very possible to get another Thompson drive Xbox, which is the worst one.

when my BOX started not reading disks, I just opened up the tray, took out the disk and gave a gentle blow down into it, works fine from that time on... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Ok thanks,
Today sometime I'll open it up and clean the dust out of it (I've never opened it since I got it so it's probably really dirty)

^^^Mine would do okay with that for a while (2003 with the thompson drive) ... It even had the gall to not read a game I got for Xmas right away ... a brand new game, straight from the box into my Xbox and it said "dirty or damaged disk" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif ... then finally a month or so ago it decided to not read anything ... no games, no DVD's, no music CD's, nothing. So I gave it the axe. Just go ahead and think about geting a new Xbox before too much longer.

Well, I guess maybe it's just because the CD's have a few scratches on it. I checked my xbox and I've got a Philips drive, so the Thompson issue shouldn't be the problem.

I had the same problem. Except, it wouldn't play my games. After cleaning the lense, it worked like magic. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

You don't have a hard drive..

Eject the drive w/ no disc and match it with a picutre. Google is your pal http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.
