I just realized something. Many are concerned about the short campaign (1939-43) and I've come up with some thoughts on this:
1) If you really think about it 1939-43 is not short. It's just shy of four years, and if you make one patrol per month, that's 44 patrols.
2) Many players use SH3 Commander. There is an option within to simulate a realistic career length. That means about 12 patrols I think - I can't recall now since I never used that feature. If you are someone that uses that feature, 1939-43 can give you a fair career length, or up to 4 careers in the same war.
3) We know that the Battle of the Atlantic was basically over by 1944. Correction, 1943!
4) There may be updates/patches/add-ons that allow type IXs and XXIs, plus the 1944-45 portion of the game.
When it comes down to it, the game will probably turn out well and as long as the new DRM is not used on this game I'm sure it will make most players happy. There will always be user content, mods and supermods for the game.
Here's hoping the new DRM will miss this one!
