I've seen the movie however now I would like to purchase it. Does anyone know if the SuperBit version is much better than the Director's Cut?

AFAIK "SuperBit is only on the Directors Cut version. All SuperBit is:

Quote:
"The Superbit Collection sets a new standard for DVD video and audio performance. The Superbit titles utilize a special high bit rate digital transfer process which optimizes video quality while offering a choice of both DTS and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. All Superbit DVDs start with High Definition masters. The Superbit Collection will set a new benchmark in high resolution DVD image and sound, creating the ultimate in home entertainment. By reallocating data normally used for value-added content, Superbit DVDs can be encoded at double their normal bit rate while maintaining full compatibility with the DVD-Video format. The result is picture quality that provides outstanding detail. Superbit DVDs play on all DVD players. Currently DVDs are encoded to optimize space for the feature plus added value and audio streams. The SUPERBIT collection reallocates and converts the physical space ordinarily devoted to added value to higher bit rate video transfer and both Dolby Digital 5.1 & DTS audio. English track in Dolby 2.0"

The best version is supposed to be the uncut version. even more things than the directors cut from what I understand. I've only seen the directors cut other than the original.

I have the superbit but from what I have heard about the d.c. being really uncut I would go with that.
Try ebay.
I am looking fer one myself.
But with fishing season coming up(gotta love those smallies!) I need supplies.
And bein as I have had the superbit fer so long I am not really tryin to acquire it @ this moment.
But get the D.C. < NOT> the superbit.

Silmar,
There's actually 3 diff. versions.

Forget the super bit, and the review I read said that the Directors cut has much better sound than the later edition.

Picking up a copy as well at blockbuster. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Hope your fishing is "catch & release". A smallmouth bass is such a great fish its a pity to kill 'em. By the way I've released 3 smallmouths over 5 lbs. during my life. Just love a bronzeback also...

Best sound is probably the Director's Cut.

But if you want the whole Das Boot experience, then go for the complete, uncut 5-hour version. You won't regret it.

Timber,

Affirmative on c&r!!
My friend I have nuthin but love fer me bronzebacks!!
I only rip lips and let em tell their friends of the "killer smallie lip ripper"!!
I am also an advocate of bassmaster tourneys of expandin to small river/creek/brook fishermen fer the "bass with shoulders"!!! I would be internationally known. No boats, No sponsors.
Just 3 lures, a pair of waders , their rules, my turf(which is K-Whacky,OhighO, and Pennsylvania streams, rivers, and above all CRICKS!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Imagine an u-boot in a smallie scheme!!
Same with a flyable avenger fer il-2/p.f.!

The smallmouth: the Tiger of the sunfish family!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, get the full uncut 2 disk version! I have bought it and I love it. The superbit is stupid, it's on 2 disks but has the same amount of footage as the directors cut, just better quality that can't be noticed by the human eye.

Wait!

Are you saying the UNCUT is better than the Directors cut!?!

But isn't the sound flat on the extended UNCUT version? If I buy it I want it to rock!

Sound is fine with the uncut version. In fact, I couldn't discern much difference between the director's cut and the uncut version.

Sounds great on my home theater system! The storm sounds incredible!

I will add that the only major difference between the director's cut and the uncut is the actor's dialogues were re-recorded for the DC.

But for the money, you HAVE to get the uncut version.

Doesn't look like the uncut version is available here is Oz, these are the only ones that I can find.
