The best way to do paint chipping?

Does anyone have any advice on a better way to do paint chipping because my current method is pretty hit or miss.

try easiest way on begin.Create some light layer and put him on existing one than go to wave performances and try to manipulate by triggers to hide it over deeper layer,ull see how it goes.Kristorf gave you good source.Just an expample of this trick.Good luck
