Can anybody provide useful information on how to escape a destroyer when they spotted you? I'm new to the Sub sim and everytime I have a destoyer spot me they ping the hell out of me, drop the charges and then I'm dead. I can usually go 30 min of the destroyer chasing me and droping the charges but it always ends up that I die... Please help

P.s Is it smart to go after the desroyers or are you suposed to avoid them?

Destroyers are not your true target. Your job mainly is to sink precious cargo ships headed for england and its allies, not to sink their warships, although helping is helping.

To evade destroyers the two key ingredients are:

1. Don't be where they think you are.
2. Don't give away your position.

#1 involves say running off in one direction and then silently hard turning 90 degrees or more. They then estimate your position incorrectly. Don't stay still if detected or they are on an attack run - depth charges kill even if he doesn't know where you are if they're on top of oyu, dive the deeper the better.

#2 involves being quiet (ahead slow), not pinging the bottom, not sending radio messages, not firing, rigging for silent running, being in escort blind spots such as on the otherside of a ship, under another a ship, under the escort (dangerous!), don't use your periscope, behind the escort (in his sonar blind spot).

ROFL well Seeing as they always sink you .. AVOID THEM ... I sunk one once but it was on a dark night and he was moving straight and alone AND in early part of war.. So yal avoid them and oh are you using Silent Running the Z key also it may help to give it a smallest target as possible meaning dont show him your broad side if ya can help it point towards him or move away and keep turning so your *** keeps pointing in direction of the sonar contact . Put your periscope down right and dive down but ya gotta know the depth so Ping the depth with your navegator BEFORE you engage any ship when getting close to contact to have a general . I repeat general idea of how deep you can go. move at slow speed ..maybe fast at first as he approaches from a distance to move away from his search area the slow and with silent runing on ..
