Hey time ago since post but I bet nobody knows and cares (not that I mind, would do the same). But anyway I still LOVE THIS GAME but have a few questions about things I don't know.
So here they are and hopefully someone reacts (no doubt, trust u guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

uuhm the magneto, as far as I know it's some kind of magnet lightning in the plane but that's all I know. If it's for keeping your motor turning then what's the use of using one or two? is it for if one is leeking/burning?

sec^^, feather prop, is it turning ur wings in line of the wind so they are almost not turning when shut down, or are they side into the wind so turning takes not much energy but without motor they are taking much drag?

and almost last, cowl/armor flaps. Now this I really don't know. I know there are planes with big flaps for low speed and small flaps for hight speed but I wonder if these planes already got it.

And last, most stupid one http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif , somebody gave me a link to mission4today with a nice starters guide BUT I LOST THE LINK and can't find it.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif does anybody know the link or another site with such a lovely guide?

OKE THX for futur reactions http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

magnetos enable the engine to make electricity for the spark plugs without a battery. Redundant systems (having more than one) is standard on aircraft

feathering props means turning the propellor blades so that they offer the least wind rersistance to the airstream when the engine is off

cowl flaps are for cooling. Armor flaps is a confusing term and it means basically the same thing

The wider the cowl flaps are open, the more air passes through the cooling system. The more air passing through, the better the heat exchange, and the cooler the engine runs

What kind of starter's guide are you looking for? here is the M4T mainpage, there are several guides listed under "knowledge base"

magnet lightning in the plane

The magneto is an electro-mechanical device that creates high-tension current of the strength required to make a spark across two electrodes, i.e a spark-plug. There are two so that there is back-up in the case of one failng.

Lighting current (low-tension) is produced by a similar device, called a dynamo.

'Feathering' entails tuning the prop blades to maximum coarse pitch so that they are minimally affected by the air passing by them. This stops the blades from 'wind-milling' - which is self explanatory.

Cowl/armour flaps are small panels in the engine cowling which open and close and allow the engine/radiator to receive a cooling air flow. They may cause drag by spoiling airflow across the engine surface or the fuselage, so you may lose up to 20km/h by flying with them open.

Here's your link (http://www.mission4today.com/)

aah thanks for reactions, realy fast.
So the magneto's keep the engine running, but then what's the use of shutting one or both down?
If feathering propeller causes the least drag when shut down, does it cause the most drag when the propeller is on speed? In that case is it only handy when your complete propeller is down and unable to use?

About the cowl flaps, how does it open? I meen when on high speed or in fast turning dogfights, could it brake? and what's the difference with the radiator? because I also got radiator 2,4,6,8,open,closed if not wrong. Do I have to combinate it with the cowl option?

And the starter guide I lost whas on the mission4today site, I know the site but can't find it on the site itself anymore. Or maybe it's gone but I doubt it, I think I can't search http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif .

But still thanks for reacts http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
