Maybe this forum will make u dig the idea of SC on a handheld a little more, especially the DS... Splinter Cell for Nintendo DS (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=393107431&m=7711017652)

NSAagent, you say it would be completely different and you don't want that, but who says it would be different in a negative way? Just in case you didn't check out the link here is some of the stuff we've been thinking up in the other forum:

Think of how they could use the DS' features with it:

The microphone could pick up your breathing, so when you are around guards and the mic is picking up a loud noise, the guard notices you. It could also be used for comunication in multiplayer mode, eliminating the need to go out and spend money on a headset.

The touch screen could be an easy access to inventory. It could be used when sniping due to the fact that touch screens make great aiming devices (as discovered in Metroid Prime: First Hunt) I'm sure the developers can find hundreds of uses for the touch screen in all of the Splinter Cell games

I think the DS is a great opportunity to improve upon Splinter Cell

I hope it doesn't come out for DS simply because that means that they would need to develop a version different from the console version and different from the GBA/Ngage version.
The only way they would probably do it is if they ported the GBA/Ngage version and made it use only one screen.

What do you find so bad about creating a different version? Is it just the fact that we'll all probably have to wait another two years for it?

I sure as hell hope they don't port the GBA/Ngage version, that would just be insulting to the DS. While the DS may still be using fairly basic 3D software(considering what is out today), it will still be able to handle most of the shadowing and lighting for SC, two of the most crucial elements of SC, meanwhile on GBA and Ngage versions the programmers might as well have been making a different game. Heck, those systems can barely handle the Pokémon games being made for them. The DS may still currently be a not so good excuse for an Xbox or PS2, compared to the GBA it may as well be from some ultra-futuristic alien civilization.

And look at all these new features! The mic, the touch screen, they all provide so many opportunities to make SC MORE REALISTIC, and isn't that what all of us no-life gamers want? A believable life away from the real world?

I'm still all for making SC for the DS.

Oh wait, just in. The DS' processor goes at 67 MGhz meanwhile Xbox is 733 MGhz so Im not so sure about the shadowing capabilities.

In that case I totally hope it happens just so that it keeps them busy and away from the console, PC, and GBA/Ngage version of the Splinter Cell gameshttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I liked SC for mobile phones. I liked SCPT for mobile phones more. If they give it good hands it could be a very good game.
