It's actually coming out soon. In my hour or so of computer time these days I find myself constantly checking for my updates. Sooo can't wait for this, even if I'll have to run it at settings so low it'll look like pong.

I am wretched with glee. I will be overseas without my game puter. Going to be forced to beg for stick time.

For once I jumped right. Just rebuilt my computer last week. And it should handle CoD well based on the released specs. Thankfully. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Still marvel at the eight gigs of ram I put into it. EIGHT!!!. Not bragging, just amazed that those eight gigs cost my about the same as one meg cost me in 1990.

Hey Rjel! Similar thoughts about hardware over a slightly longer time base here. I got my first HD running in 1986. The Omti controller card alone ran me (IIRC) $150 while the Syquest 5M removable media drive ran me $360. Before 1986 I had a Z-80 system running two $150 each FD's (they were Chinon's, worth the bit extra). In 87 I picked up a used 10M drive for under $100 at a small fest in Jersey... I forget the maker but it had plated media. That drive took a fall that would have spelled doom to a Seagate and never a bit of trouble from it.

I've noted since the arrival of the clones that there had been a basic price the OEM's wanted that didn't vary much year to year (about US$1000) though the hardware would change. That was the fest OEM whole system target, not the shop walk-in target that IME was 2x+. I built and sold turbo XT's for $700-$800 to friends and kept hearing of people buying the same basic thing for $1500-$2100 at stores. There's been a lot of change in pricing for sure but one thing doesn't change, there are still people getting fleeced by salesmen too!

Did you ever have a system where you put memory in a chip at a time in banks or 8 or 9? Do you remember when X86-PC color meant 16 colors? LOL!

FSM, I am much happier to see the required and desired specs are much closer to my reach than I had feared!

The memory chips you mentioned are unfamiliar to me, but my original version of Dynamix's Red Baron was in beautiful EGA! I had to send away for a 256 color version VGA. Those were the days.

Happy enough, especially since I decided not to buy the laptop I was looking at getting - it would have run IL-2 fine, but not CloD. It looks like I can just about afford a desktop setup to meet CloD specs (allowing a bit over the minimum - maybe the recommended specs at a pinch). Having a new system that would almost run it would have been really annoying. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Building your own system is quite cheap especially if you can still use your old computer case, power supply, and CD/DVD drives.

Then its just a matter of a
Motherboard $200
Memory 4 gigs $50
Video Card $250

You could build yourself a system that would run COD with absolutley no problems for $500 bucks. Screw the motherboard to the case, slot in the memory/video card, and plug in the power connections and your basicly done.

Leaving that darn old CPU out like you did seems to cut the price down a lot too.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, I thought there was not quite right there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif A 3.3 gig Sandy Bridge is around 280 dollars.

I was ahead of myself with glee at one time until the developmental length popped that bubble of glee like a child's nice bright shiny balloon. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I'm looking forward to it.. I'd say that "beside myself with glee" is a tad too intense for a flight sim release.. at least if is for me.

I have a new case and 600W PS plus extra drives (including a new 1.5T SATA) so far and it looks like $500 more may get me into recommended system specs. If I couldn't do my own minimal tech work then that would double and then some. If I run real tight for 3 months then I can pull it off and still afford CoD. I want the collectors edition if I can.

The only hangup for me is the unknown aspects of the DRM. Don't want to upgrade just to have another another SH4 'experience'. Thanks Loads for wasting so much of my time UBI, crash-crash-crash!
