First of all, I don't see anyt of the pics.

2nd of all, is it a like sequal to clubhouse. With new layout and objectives, but uses the same look and feel as the orignal. Or is it just the Original Clubhouse modified? If so, look in the Editor's forum for a 7 page thread on why thats a horrible idea.

ok first off there is a whole thread in the map editor discussion on some other dude's "club house 2" idea. you should go read that before you go any further with your "club house"

Sounds like a reincarnation of a dumb idea to add strobe lights and random fish all over the place.

Dump this project and do something constructive, like slit your rists. Remember, it's down the road not across the street.

i got a great idea to make the fog clubhouse even better. click onto the map file. drag it to the recycling bin. rightclick onto the bin. click "empty".

Just because you know how to mod a map, doesn't mean you should.

The only reason people will download it at this point is to be able to mock it first hand, then they will never play it again.

Make a map from scratch, you'll be happier in the end.

Guys, don't ya think we're bashing him a little too much? After all we shouldn't be discouraging new map-makers so readily. Although I do admit that a clubhouse remake sounds a bit eh-ish and might turn out really bad, some comments and criticisms in this thread have gone too far.

Am I still the one who remembers the criticisms Boo had to endure after the initial release of pyrocryptic which turned out to be a pretty good map?

What we should be doing is point out the fact that just adding some fog and new texture effects does not sound like a good idea. However, if he can somehow create an alternate clubhouse like diff sections, diff scenarios, etc, it could be a welcome change. Just throwing an idea in, but maybe a clubhouse pre-renovation/build might make a good map.

There is a big difference between creating your own map, and butchering someone else's work.

I mean really, what the **** is the point of putting fog/fish/lights/*****s into Club House? What's the point of releasing 9,000 Deftec's? There is none. It's a stupid idea, and we're letting this .zero clan know it's a waste of time. Just like playing DM and doing nothing but searching for oddities within the game is a waste of time, but that's another story entirely.

cs_assault may be a bad idea but 1 map that i think would be a good SC map would be de_inferno there would be so many coop place like bridge windows balconies ETC. that would be the only cs map i would agree with nothing else really

He meant that CounterStrike and Chaos Theory are quite different games, and I agree. I think porting CS maps over to CT is a bad, bad idea. As others have said, come up with your own creative maps, dont take premade maps and just port them over.

i don't see the problem with recreating a counter strike map in splinter cell. its a map that isn't in splinter cell, so the more the merrier. of course this would have to NOT be a direct port, the map would need to tailored for splinter cell.

the obvious basics would have to be adding nds, disks, bombsites. but the more important factors would be re-molding the map with splinter cell in mind. the editor would have to add vent routes, co-op spots, all sorts of stealth routes. then of course the lighting would have to change drastically on nearly all the maps. make it go from day time to night time, add shadows, etc.

if this is done with a careful examination of splinter cell in mind, and some kind of balance in mind then i could actually see this being a really successful addition to the map list in sc. if it is just nothing more than a direct port without any attention to how the map would actually play in sc, then of course it would be a flop.

actually it would be better to check out the assault maps that were released by players. you could just base ideas off these.

one: apc_assault
two: assault2k

or something like that. both maps were much darker and had way more venting to move around in. fog or rain would be cool outside as well.

i think this idea isn't 1/2 bad considering sc is supposed to be infultration for the spies - and all cs players know that assault was hard to get into.

the scale of the map, along with a lot of other aspects, would have to be changed. in fact i don't think it would even be possible to "port" a map from counter strike over to splinter cell. simply because i doubt counter strike uses the UNREAL editor to create maps. (i could be wrong but i guess dimmy isn't around to cuss me out for being wrong.)

most likely someone who would create (because port isn't the right word for what i'm talking about) a map for splinter cell based on a counter strike map would have to do it from scratch. as long as they are re-creating it from scratch i don't see why they wouldn't tailor it to splinter cell.

so as that case stands i don't see why anyone would be against having a splinter cell map based on a counter strike map to play on. of course the standards of quality (yipe) would still force the mapper to be careful, obviously the map needs to be functional. all i am saying is that i think it would be great to have some SC maps based on CS.

counterstrike is based on the HL(or source engine now)engine, and therefore maps would be made with worldcraft(or its source equivalent), no?
