View Full Version : UBI Tech Support refuses help

I hate to post slightly off topic, but while all of the publicity is in the release of Lockdown, UBI is not providing support for Ravenshield servers. Most Ravenshield and practically all Athena Sword clan servers have disapearred in the last few days. They are physically running, and being paid for, but UBI will not allow them to register. My Clan's server gets the error "callback:RegServerRcv_RegisterServerResult failed, reason = 1

I called UBI's US tech support number and they tell me "We do not provide support for the dedicated servers". They suggest waiting a few days to see if the problem gets fixed.

Is this going to happen with every UBI game, like Lockdown and GRAW when another game is released?

I just restarted our RvS server, it registered just fine.

There were some servers that would work. Was your's not working yesterday and a restart fixed it today or was yours never having the problem?

ahhhh...so that is the issue. I noticed yesterday that our server was not showing up, as well as at least half of the other servers. Normally I see close to 500 RvS servers running, yesterday I could only get 200+ to show.

I didn't restart our server, so Ubi must have fixed it because now there are close to 500 again and we are showing up (<HH>Hick Humpers).

Pest_AWC is legitimate in his complaint. There were severe issues yesterday. I restarted our servers this morning, and they seem to be holding on to UBI's reg servers.

UBI stated long ago when RvS came out that their stand alone server apps were unsupported. What a crappy policy! Um, UBI, hello - you wrote the software, so support it!!!

Guess we can look forward to the same low level of support if we play Lockdown? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

My clan server now appears.

I still wish that we didn't have to rely on that. They should have redundancy or an option to not register and connect by IP. It ruined our weekly Wednesday night clan gaming...

I guess without dedicated server, the Lockdown game won't have that issue like Ravenshield does.

I too wondered why UBI does not assist with Tech Support for Dedicated Servers.

It DID occur to me that most people who have Dedicated Servers do so thru a third party Game Server company such as Trinity or DefCon.

This being true, this could simply be a case of UBI not wanting to trouble shoot another company's issues.

Just another possibility for consideration.
