Interesting name you have there. I was actually considering making a thread asking what the chances were of seeing something less "gamey" and perhaps more thought provoking in terms of story for this game. I know the story involves civil war, warlords and guns for hire in Africa, so it feels like it'd be a shame and a lost opportunity if the story was just your token FPS fare.

Um, I don't know of any games that feature a military coup as the storyline :S , much less a somewhat dynamic storyline.

Right, but that doesn't make it immune against becoming a "gamey" affair. I would like to have enemies that I can truly despise, and a simple "this guy is the bad guy, because he's a real bad guy", even along with allusions to his crimes, that won't cut it. Nor do I feel like just fighting to save some dame, or secure some treasure. Make it something worthwhile, something with an impact on my emotion toward my opposition.

You probably know this, but the weapons dealer aparently mocks you while stricken with malaria and gives you a gun to kill him with, which you obviously can't. I reckon that'd be motivation enough for me to wanna kill him (it doesn't take much for mehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif), especially after the inevitable number of close calls we'll have with him over the course of the game, until finally, 'bang, cop that mister bad guy'. Hmm, what a pointless rant that was.
Oh and each of the 10 or so playable characters has their own reason for being in Africa doing what they're doing. I think FC2 has heaps of potential for a great story, the basic concept sounds great to me. But really we don't know any real details yet, so I guess we gotta wait and see.
