Does anyone know how we can switch from diesel to electric while on surface?

I'm pretty certain you can't do it. The motors switch over automatically when diving and surfacing, but there's no facility for doing it manually.

Can you operate on only one engine? Besides charge mode that is.

I have not figured out how to go one one engine yet.

I somehow mangaged to deactivate one of the dieselengines yesterday in my VIIB. Had to tell the CE to resume "normal propulsion" to get it to start. Thought of it afterwards but can't remember how i did it. Trying to find out again as i type this http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The Chief Engineer has an Option to allocate One Diesel to Recharge The batteries and the Other for main propulsion. This will recharge faster.

I have no Idea at this stage if they Modeled varying charge rate with Engine revolutions (Their is an optimum speed).

Its also impossible to get another 1200 Miles out of a type VII by clutching the second shaft to E-motor and alternateing engines to balance wear.
I will have to see what conditions max range has been worked out on.

Not shore if Engine wear is modeled yet either.

Tell the Engineer to go to standard mode to go back to both propellors. This will automatically happen also once your battery charges
