Given that they don't make war movies these days, or good movies period, it sounds good and a part of WW2 history that's been overlooked. I hope Spielberg goes ahead with his mini series about the Pacific War in WW2, a follow up to Band Of Brothers, my fave WW2 movie.

Easy company was based in Europe, after they won they basically finished their business there and went home
they didn't go to the pacific

It would be entirely different units, probably the USMC, because BOB took the 101st to the liberation of Germany and the end of the war in Europe. The big battles of the Pacific were fought from 1942 to 1944, Guadacanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Guam ,Tinian,Iwo Jima. Okinawa was taken in April, 1945. I'm not sure if the 101st even were in the Pacific.

If I'm not mistaken, I think they were planning on sending them over to the Pacific, but before they could, Japan surrendered.

well, then how will they make one that takes place in the pacific if japan surrendered during that time? unless this one is suppose to take place as the 101st are in europe. like it follows a whole other company in the pacific, but during that exact time is when the 101st in bob is fighting in europe.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this but that Brothers in Arms movie by Denzel Washington is based on the book Brothers In Arms the story of an all black tank battalion

The Spielberg movie is not about the 101st Airborne, it is going to be about the armed forces, probably the Marines, that fought in the Pacific Islands from 1941 to 1945.

The new Speilburg miniseries is based on the book "With the Old Breed" written by E.B. Sledge. It is based on the accounts of a MARINE fighting on Peleliu and Okinawa. This book, like Band of Brothers from Stephen Ambrose is a non-fiction book.

This is NOT a sequel to Band of Brothers, that is, it has NOTHING to do with the same characters from the mini-series as the book. Remember that Band of Brothers is based on a true story and that the writers wouldn't just make up a story of the characters fighting in the Pacific.

I guess his plans (Spielberg's) changed direction from the Iwo Jima story I read he was originally planning on doing. That's good I guess... I think it would be pretty difficult to recreate the Iwo landings and slaughter that ensued. Pelilu and Okinawa were no picnics of course.
The 101st and many other ETO units never made it to Japan. Thank god for The Bombs. Millions would have died if we had to invade mainland Japan.

Thank God for the bombs?! Innocent Japs died in the thousands! Maybe it was for the best in the long run for the Allies, but it was still morally wrong. I still wouldn't phrase it 'thank god' though.

There's not a lot of moral difference from the bombing of a city like Hiroshima and the firebombing of Hamburg and Dresden or the firebombing of Canterbury. In the age of total war, meaning war gainst a nation's civilians, the definition of a war crime is blurred.

Hey, NO ONE would have died if they and Germany didn't start it all. Sorry, chump. It is a horrible shame that civilians (not "Japs" as you so eloquently stated) die in war but think about who started it all back then.
End of story. I say again, thank god for The Bombs.
