Hi all,

Update as of 15:27 10/09/10

Server issues should now have been resolved.

Please try playing the game again.

If you have altered any files on your PC, please either restore the back up orreinstall, and remove any fixes from the Host file you may have added, and try connecting to the servers again.

It's important that any extra Ubi references you may have added from your host file, which is located in the following folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc are removed.

It should look similar to this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

You can also try the following suggestion - again only use if you know what your doing:

I would suggest to empty the dns cache for those who still got the problem.

It can be simply done by entering <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">ipconfig /flushdns</pre>into the windows shell. (Run -> type: cmd press enter)

This is what my hosts file previously looked like:

#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should

#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 static3.cdn.ubi.com
127.0.0.1 ubisoft-orbit.s3.amazonaws.com
127.0.0.1 onlineconfigservice.ubi.com
127.0.0.1 orbitservice.ubi.com
127.0.0.1 ubisoft-orbit-savegames.s3.amazonaws.com

I then deleted everything under the following:
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

This fixed this issue for me.

I've just tried using Microsoft's solution to restore the HOSTS file back to its default. But even that doesn't fix the problem with RUSE :'(

I've discovered a ...temporary fix so people can at least play single player. It works for me. But I'm afraid I can't post how to do it here for ...legal reasons... lol...

I do not support piracy but this was an act of desperation and I actually think its ok in this case because I actually bought this game and have a valid serial number.

That's all I can say and hopefully you guys can figure out the same way I did it on your own http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. The hosts file, located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, reads like this:

# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

That is, it's entirely empty, except for some comments.

That's all I can say and hopefully you guys can figure out the same way I did it on your own http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Hey Xiupan
PLease send me solution on my email adres if you can of course : dominik@interia.pl

Update:

I just deinstalled the game.
Then reinstalled it, making sure to run the installer (from DVD), steam, etc. all as administrator (I was always using an administrator account, but now I explicitly used the Run as Administrator option.)

My hosts file is unchanged from what I posted earlier.

But now everything works fine.

Where are those settings exactly? I see "Set Launch Options..." under the RUSE properties in Steam, but don't know what to type there. Guess I'm not in the right place. Can anyone describe it a little more accurately?

lol ok - just right klik on "R.U.S.E." in your "game" library (in steam) - then klik on "set launch options" and past "admin" - if it not works then do it in "Administrator" account on your pc - and if don't have one, make one xD

I tried deleting all the stuff after the standard text everyone seems to have. That didn't work. I also tried deleting the file completely, which didn't work either.

When I dial into my university's VPN network and connect to the internet from there (pings of over 1500 are normal this way) I can get from the login-cockblock at least to the menu where I can select my county but I never get to see the EULA.

I have to say that I am quite disappointed at Ubisoft for putting this in after the betas. They said they would use steamworks instead of the ubisoft control crap, which got me to buy this game and now the first thing you see in the game is this 'sign up on ubi.com' BS?

EDIT: After lagging through the ubisoft account creation process using my university VPN connection, I can start the game just fine without any problems, seems like the account server thing now works or is deactivated after logging in once.

They have a fix? Yea right, Every game I own with Steam has worked fine with my Universities Firewall, and now R.U.S.E. happens to be the one game based on STEAM that doesn't work at all... I am extremely disappointed, that Ubisoft's form of a fix is blaming the issue on the consumer.

he guys,
i just follewed this instruction

quote:
Zitat von freigeist22:
was bei mir gefunzt hat.

1)in steam alle inhalte von ruse (releaseversion/ beta / demo) löschen.
2)steam beenden

this is
1. delete all ruse files (retail, demo, beta etc.) within steam
2.close steam
3. delete all steam files and folders
4.open regedit, go to local machine. look 4 ubisoft, delete entries 4 ruse.
5.reinstall ruse

on your own risk!

i wish u luck, like i had.

Hey everyone, I'm back. So far I've tried everything that's been listed so far. All of the required ports are open. I've tried reinstalling Ruse, reinstalling Steam THEN Ruse. Tried playing under an Administrator account...Nothing has worked. I'm at a loss at the moment. By what I've read on the forums, Ruse has turned out to be a phenomenal game and has only fueled my will to get it to work. xD So, if any support could help me out, that'd be great.

I can see a few people have some extra entries pointing the external servers to the local network card in their host file?

I would manually remove anything after:

'# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost'

Since really that is all that should be in the host file, anything else may be interfering with DNS connecting to the account servers, since entries are not needed.

And then try the game.

The host file is normally handled by the operating system, and games etc should not need access.

Or you can try adding them in, such as the above post, since it seems something on certain systems, may be stopping it connecting via DNS.

I must stress it's not an official fix, since the game does not need any entries in the Host file, it should just work, however it appears that something on certain PC's is blocking DNS or the connection to the servers.

If that does not resolve it, please post back.

I would suggest to empty the dns cache for those who still got the problem.

It can be simply done by entering <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">ipconfig /flushdns</pre>into the windows shell. (Run -> type: cmd press enter)

Actually the problem is the following:

Since the grand part of the users found a solution with non official methods to this issues the ubi support is taking less seriuosly the problem.
personally i am not able with any method to give a solution to the problem, and my copy results unusable at all.

support is giving up ,i guess, because the number of copies affected by this issue is now a minor percentage.
this is making me very upset.
Here in Italy we have the right of refund within 8 days from the purchase...they are slowly passing by...

@ Mr_Shade

Thanks for adding to the post but actually i would recommend to enter the command right after updating the hosts file because if you only save the host file and start the game, it could possibly happen that the UBI Servers are still blocked adresses in the cache.

@All

Before you scream and start blaming UBI and/or EUG (as you already did in the first 4 pages) think about the fact that around 90% of you have manually edited the "Hosts -file" in order to bypass a UBI DRM. That these guys are still helping everyone and still providing the "hosts-file" tipp is actually more than user&customer friendly.

If you think im lying, try to get support e.g. for your jailbroken ipod.... what i wanna say by this, is that there are actually companys out there which handle such things in a different way.

Keep that in mind the next time you blame the devs and publishers.

No, I'm not a ubi neither a eugen member

Now, while this may be true for some of the people having this issue, I can say without a doubt that I did NOT edit any files on my computer, nor have I ever played a previous ubisoft title on my computer, yet I am still having this issue. Therefore, I tend to feel that ubisoft is obligated to at least assist me with this issue. Now, I'm not saying that they haven't been working on it, but there still isn't a definite fix, which from a consumer's standpoint is frustrating to say the least.

Edit: I feel this post came off a little wrong, I would like to express that I appreciate all the work that Ubisoft is putting in to fixing this issue, and the kindness of the community managers in dealing with the angry and, at times, rude comments.

only the host file
and play game
which is located in the following folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
copy paste the text

Ubisoft is a total joke. They are too worried about nickle'ing and dime'ing people out of their hard earned money, rather than making a game that works. This DMR software is a joke. If your that worried about your money, only release it on steam. Problem solved. Its been 3 days since I've bout the game, and I still haven't played a minute. Your customer service, if you can call it that has been even more of a joke. They dont have a fix for a GAMEBREAKING issue, because most people's issues have been fixed but us select few are left to dry. This customer service or moderator that has been posting in this thread has been nigh unintellegent, and unhelpful. All he has done is copy and pasted what users have taken their time to find out about this problem. Maybe you should do your job buddy. I've registered on most review sites I can find (Over 15 or so) and have given it 0/10 on all of them. On my gaming blog which gets about 200 hits a day, I've posted a blog on why NOT to buy R.U.S.E. I will never ever buy a Ubisoft game ever, in my life. You guys are a joke of a development team, and I wish you all the worst of luck on your future endeavors. You'll never get another penny from me. For all the users who TL;DR basically GG ubisoft.

(Also, You can go ahead and ban me or do whatever to cover your tails, but it's all I have to say to your people)

I have a laptop and tried to login at my friends house http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and it worked!
Now i can also play the game from my own house without any problems http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So if u have a laptop or u can move your computer i highly recommend moving your pc's to a friends house (Which worked for me) and try to login, and if u can, the problem is solved! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Very odd that the game is connecting after using someone else's PC - to me, and I'm no way support, that does point to something on your PC blocking the account servers first attempts, since if the servers were down /had problems, it should still error. But I am glad you have it working at last.

As to making a new account and it works - that again seems very odd, but again, glad it's working.

I suggest you guys contact support and make them aware that you have fixed the issue - so they can close your cases and see what went wrong.

Very odd idd, i made the new account on the same computer, funny tho, i found where steam saved the profile file after a successfull login, i deleted it and tried to login with my real account, ofc that didn't worked.

I don't think there is something on my computer that will block my real username, when i can make a new account and it worked, must be some user issues on ubisoft side.

my problem is now, that my earned points in uplay goes to my girlfriends account :/

Sorry to double post but I have tried using my girlfriends email to sign up and encountered the same problem. This really is unacceptable. I have come how after a 3 month patrol looking forward to playing this game and it wont even work. Instead of spending my leave having fun im trawling through forums trying to decypher computer jargon. I think ubisoft should be aware that we are not all computer experts and should write their solutions clearly and accordingly.

i read alot about ppl had that problem, what u can do is:

find your "hosts" file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

open it with notepad ect ect, and remove anything that doesn't have the mark # infront of it.

Save it, and try again

mine looks like this in Win 7

Strange you can't save it tho, but u can try save it to your desktop, and then try to overwrite the old one, maybe u can paste the info in your hosts file, before doing anything to it?.

from Mr_Shade's post i would have thought this was sorted already?? and yet for some reason having just installed the game it still doesnt work. nor do any of the "fixes" help at all!?!?

what is going on here? its now 4 days past the release and it still doesnt even work? there have been pirated copies out since it was released?! i'm not condoning pirated games, but how is it that they can find ways around the security, but ubisoft themselves cant find solutions to the problem?

Please please please get this sorted. why does it even need a login?!?! its not supposed to be using ubisoft drm, and i dont care about uplay points, i just want access to the game!

ha! pretty crappy! i'd say its downright abysmal. to create a game that doesnt even function at the most basic level is worryingly incompetent. even if its only a small minority, you would hope that Ubisoft would throw as much resource as it can to finding a solution, keep people updated, and have found a proper fix by now. people complain when games already have updates and fixes on the release day, but at least they then retain some functionality!

I would return the game, but having now installed it and it being associated with my steam account i'm not sure i can. i'm recomending to all my friends not to buy it, wait 6 months till theres a definitive fix (hopefully) and pick it up for half the price. why should i pay full price (why would i buy it at all!) for a game that doesnt work. you might as well give away your money, i'm willing to bet no-one has walked up to a stranger and just given them £30 quid lately! so why do it Ubisoft

okay but other than random homeless people... fancy giving me £30 anyone? i'd be suprised (and very appreciative!) if you do.

i would be happy just knowing that they are actually doing something about this and we might have a solution soon, because at the moment as far as i can tell its no longer a priority for them. they've "fixed" their servers and a minority who still have a £30 coffee mat arent of any consequence. and if they're not going to sort it soon i want a refund which is going to be a load of hassle now that i've installed the game.

I have reported that a few of you guys are still having issues.

The problem for the majority of people is corrected however, so it's a little tricky to troubleshoot peoples individual PC's on a forum.

I suggest you try to contact Support again, or failing that - please PM me your incident numbers, please do not post them on the public forum and I will try and chase things up for you.

If you decide to contact me - please make sure you have your incident number - or the email address you sent the support ticket request with, otherwise I may not be able to help you.

[to contact me privately, please click my name and click 'invite to private thread']

If your not happy with either of those suggestions, I can only apologise and say that Support should be able to handle any refund that you may want.

I have tried to help my son play his game but it will not work. I have checked the hostfile, opened all ports required in roter and still no connection. Looks like RUSE is worst crap I ever seen

Leech007

It took me a long time, but I have finally tested everything on my end, so I'm now 100% sure it's R.U.S.E and not me.

I've checked the hosts file. There are no other entries then the standard single on.

I know how to work my router, but just to be sure I downloaded a portchecker utulity from portforward.com and manually checked each and every port that I am supposed to open. Especially the ports needed for activating (which are not listed ANYWHERE in the manual or or website, except a single entry on support.ubi.com! 25150 - 25199; they don't list TCP or UDP so I did both) So I confirmed all ports are open and working.

I disabled my AV and Firewall (Bitdefender) and even put my router in DMZ mode, so to enable everything.

I searched for all entries by Ubisoft in my registry and deleted those (only the R.U.S.E ones ofcourse). I searched for all R.U.S.E entries, and deleted those. Then I redownloaded R.U.S.E for the millionth time, and installed it again.

Stil no GO.

It's not me or my machine, it's R.U.S.E. Really funny that there is no option not to start R.U.S.E without the log in. I don't care about stats, I want to play the game!

I backed up my hosts file, then removed it.. started R.U.S.E, typed my username and password and it worked http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif after that I just placed back the hosts file and it still worked http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I hope this will also work for the rest of you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

OK, I need help here.
I bought RUSE on STEAM sale (on that STEAM Treasure Hunt day) but, I keep getting this error and cannot even play this game.
Ubisoft technical support is helping me, but not getting anywhere (Reference #101208-000190).
Could anyone from here help me out?

I have the above error message. Things I have done are:
1. Removed everything not necessary in the host file of windows
2. Opened all ports in my router that are required as stated in the R.U.S.E FAQ
3. Used the dns flush command in windows.
4. Ran the programme as administrator.
5. Disabled firewall and virus programme.
6. Changed dns servers.
7. added R.U.S.E.exe to the exception list of my firewall and virus programme.

As of yet none of the above have worked. I am very frustrated with this system of having to be log in to play a game I have given you money for. Is there a problem with servers on your end? I am running windows seven 64 bit. Are there any other options available to try? If not what is the best way I can apply for a refund? Thankyou for any help you can give in advance. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

This is what mine says (i'm still using XP)

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample LMHOSTS file used by the Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to computernames
# (NetBIOS) names. Each entry should be kept on an individual line.
# The IP address should be placed in the first column followed by the
# corresponding computername. The address and the computername
# should be separated by at least one space or tab. The "#" character
# is generally used to denote the start of a comment (see the exceptions
# below).
#
# This file is compatible with Microsoft LAN Manager 2.x TCP/IP lmhosts
# files and offers the following extensions:
#
# #PRE
# #DOM:<domain>
# #INCLUDE <filename>
# #BEGIN_ALTERNATE
# #END_ALTERNATE
# \0xnn (non-printing character support)
#
# Following any entry in the file with the characters "#PRE" will cause
# the entry to be preloaded into the name cache. By default, entries are
# not preloaded, but are parsed only after dynamic name resolution fails.
#
# Following an entry with the "#DOM:<domain>" tag will associate the
# entry with the domain specified by <domain>. This affects how the
# browser and logon services behave in TCP/IP environments. To preload
# the host name associated with #DOM entry, it is necessary to also add a
# #PRE to the line. The <domain> is always preloaded although it will not
# be shown when the name cache is viewed.
#
# Specifying "#INCLUDE <filename>" will force the RFC NetBIOS (NBT)
# software to seek the specified <filename> and parse it as if it were
# local. <filename> is generally a UNC-based name, allowing a
# centralized lmhosts file to be maintained on a server.
# It is ALWAYS necessary to provide a mapping for the IP address of the
# server prior to the #INCLUDE. This mapping must use the #PRE directive.
# In addtion the share "public" in the example below must be in the
# LanManServer list of "NullSessionShares" in order for client machines to
# be able to read the lmhosts file successfully. This key is under
# \machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmans erver\parameters\nullsessionshares
# in the registry. Simply add "public" to the list found there.
#
# The #BEGIN_ and #END_ALTERNATE keywords allow multiple #INCLUDE
# statements to be grouped together. Any single successful include
# will cause the group to succeed.
#
# Finally, non-printing characters can be embedded in mappings by
# first surrounding the NetBIOS name in quotations, then using the
# \0xnn notation to specify a hex value for a non-printing character.
#
# The following example illustrates all of these extensions:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino #PRE #DOM:networking #net group's DC
# 102.54.94.102 "appname \0x14" #special app server
# 102.54.94.123 popular #PRE #source server
# 102.54.94.117 localsrv #PRE #needed for the include
#
# #BEGIN_ALTERNATE
# #INCLUDE \\localsrv\public\lmhosts
# #INCLUDE \\rhino\public\lmhosts
# #END_ALTERNATE
#
# In the above example, the "appname" server contains a special
# character in its name, the "popular" and "localsrv" server names are
# preloaded, and the "rhino" server name is specified so it can be used
# to later #INCLUDE a centrally maintained lmhosts file if the "localsrv"
# system is unavailable.
#
# Note that the whole file is parsed including comments on each lookup,
# so keeping the number of comments to a minimum will improve performance.
# Therefore it is not advisable to simply add lmhosts file entries onto the
# end of this file.

I'm getting this problem as well. I downloaded the game last night, and I was getting the could not communicate issue. I went to the website, saw it was down, figured that was why. Well, the website is up now, I'm getting the same problem. I haven't been able to play anything, because I can't get past the initial sign in/register screen. I bought this game on D2D, and it is registered through Steam. Any help here please?

Note: I also disabled my firewall, checked my host file thing, nothing works.

I am also having this problem after buying and downloading RUSE this evening.

Ubisoft: What's the solution to this problem which it seems a lot of people are affected by?

I also have a unmodified hosts file:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">#[...Copyright and example stuff...]
# Standard:
127.0.0.1 localhost </pre>

Windows XP Home Edition SP3 (German OEM)

Things I tried to do so far:
1) Disable Firewall & Antivirus
--> Windows Firewall and Avira Antivir
2) Reset HOSTS file
--> Manually and using the Microsoft Repair Tool
3) reinstall RUSE
--> "Remove Local Files" in Steam and use the DVD
4) Remove anything with "RUSE" in the name from the registry and reinstall again

Also I just realized there were some files left from the free weekend that was some moths ago, maybe these files caused the problem? I'll tell you if they did.

By the way: I'm able to play Assassins Creed 2 and UPlay works, too. No problems at all.

I apologize for any spelling/typing mistakes, germanism and stuff.

Same thing here as everyone else - just bought the game on steam this evening, and can't play. Disabled all firewalls, etc, nothing. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.

Hosts file? I'm a network admin, and it seems extremely suspicious that you're resorting to people looking at their hosts files. Virtually nothing uses hosts look-up anymore, not to mention virtually no-one these days (or even in the past 10 years) would have hosts file customizations...

What's going on here, UBI? Google reveals that there's tons of people still having this issue as of Feb 2011.

I think people having redirects from ubisoft servers to localhost in their hosts file have been or are using a server emulating the one that ubi is running to play AC2/Settlers/SH5 etc without activation.

It's very useful for laptop users to have this since you don't have internet wherever you are.
(And of course it's used to play pirated games)

Removing everything, like old data from the ruse free weekend and demo etc, and reinstalling didn't help to fix anything. It's still not working.

Host file is still standard.

Hi Guys..

If you were having issues on Wednesday - the game servers used to authenticate were undergoing some maintenance.

You may have noticed some issues with not only the game, but Ubi websites as well [such as this one]

If in the future you have connection issues, please check with your regions support - since it may be an unforeseen problem with the server rather than your connection /game.

As posted - Support ask people to check their Host file, due to some people editing it for a reason I do not want to go into, however appears to already have been posted.

i've had this problem since i first authenticated my code in Steam.

I cannot log into a ubi-account (presuming this < is one), nor too can i create a ubi-account, either way i always get the "could not communicate" error message.

When searching for a solution i did try what is advertised as the RUSE patch, but that has made no difference either.

The system is:
Comodo firewall
Win764
1090T
8GB
2GB 5870
3x 24"

I bought this game mainly as a show of support for Ubi using Steam (i won't buy any of the authenticated rubbish), but i do quite fancy playing it having seen the trailers.

however i am once again astounded at the shear incompetence of Ubi, who having gone to the trouble of creating a Steam only game then go and ruin it by adding an in-game ubi-account that doesn't bloody work, and is necessary even to play the single-player!

Bravo *slow-claps*

I had this problem. After trying all other suggestions I came up with another option, disable internet connection sharing, which I have to do since my wireless network doesn't agree with my 360. Afterwards it is fine to re enable.

Hope this helps someone.

My fix.

I just bought and installed this game on Steam. I tried to register a name to play, but got this error.

So... after reading about this WIDESPREAD problem for a while...

I just went to the Ubisoft support site and registered an account on the website. Then went in game and used that same login and viola!

It works now.

Just downloaded and installed on steam. Why do they have a stupid *** requirement to login to play single player campaign. Very disappointing... as clearly, my UBISOFT login works...the game just "can't connect to account servers"....it's been a longggg time since this problem started...you keep servers going to play but you can't make a fix to make it playable?

Aazatgrabya

Ok, so I successfully negotiated the crash that prevented me from launching the game now I have this account access problem. I've run through all the options in this forum to no avail. I've now gone to the extreme of disabling my Firewall and placed myself on my router's DMZ list. The hosts file is the windows default and I've even run the flushdns (try running CMD in admin mode if you get stuck on this peeps - had this problem earlier).

So there is obviously something not quite right going on and seriously UbiSoft, do we really need to be IT administrators to play your game?

Bottom line, still can't play - which is quite galling since I bought two licences so we could multiplay today!

Mr_Shade, could you post on the front page of the forums the link to the server status page for people - it's not the easiest thing to find?

I just bought this game off of Steam. I was under the impression that this game would not use the Ubisoft DRM system. As a matter of fact that is the ONLY reason I even considered looking at it. I automatically ignore all games that use it. Now after buying it I find out that it does in fact use this POS system that treats me like a criminal but it also DOESN'T WORK!

So now I am out $20 and I can't get the game to connect to the ubisoft account server. I have disabled my firewall, turned off virus protection and I can't even ping the server. Every other aspect of my system works fine. Every other game I have works just fine.

I am going to pursue a refund through Steam and I promise you I will never buy another Ubisoft product for as long as you are in business which I doubt will be very much longer.

Ubisoft is NOT working on a fix.

The problem is probably on your side.

Try plugging in your internet cable directly from your modem, without a router.

That sometimes fixes it. if it does, its your router. if not, well you might be screwed if you tried all other fixes. i would contact steam and/or ubisoft and demand a refund.

If you are still having issues connecting - please make sure you are contacting Ubisoft support.

They will be able to troubleshoot your connection, as well as helping you with any ports that need opening.

Links to support are available via www.ubi.com (http://www.ubi.com) or by using the links in my signature.

I had to reply cause I had the same problem.
The fix is simple: I logged into my STEAM account but from another computer which also have R.U.S.E. inside STEAM. This computer let me communicate with ubi.com, I logged in and the game work finally. And now of course the game working on my computer also without even ubi.com asking me to login. Works just fine as it should be.

So the FIX is: find a friend with R.U.S.E. on STEAM account and login on his/her computer into your STEAM account. Start R.U.S.E. and when prompted login or create new UBI account. After that you'll be able to start the game on your computer without problems in connecting to ubi.com. Will be automaticly logged in every time from then on.

Yeah, you're right, but many people got problem even with registering inside the game. Same message appears like for login. So it doesnt matter if you got ubi account or not. I posted possible solution for STEAM users who has the same problem cause the problem IS ON USER SIDE not on ubi side. But its fixable. Worked for me. Find my post if youre playing RUSE thru STEAM.

Ohhh.... it's a ghost thread brought from the deaaad!

I've had this problem too. The solution is something that hasn't been mentioned (or at least not mentioned much) so I'll post it here. This is assuming you have tried...

Forwarding the necessary ports
Checking the hosts file for anything rouge lines
Disabling your firewall and Anti Virus
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

Go to www.portforward.com and download the PF Static IP software (on the side bar). If you forwarded your ports yourself, then chances are you've done this already. Open the software, set your connection to use a static IP. Check all the recommended options except your DNS. Instead, check the box that uses google's DNS. Click OK and you're done. Try it. Hope it works for any of you people out there! :)
