Ok, so I experienced the same problem described in other posts, installation goes about 65% then crashes on a particular file (I can't remember the exact filename right now, but it was quoted right in another post). My installation was sluggish. I called tech support and was told i had too many programs running in the background (whatever dude) or had spyware etc etc.. anyways, i have 2 pc's in my house and as such, i have 2 copies of the game, i tried the second copy on this machine, still no good. But the game installed fine on my other pc.

Solution:

I took the crappy old DVD drive (a sony) from my other pc and put it into this PC, replacing my less than 2 month old HP DVD burner. Guess what? Installation completed and seems to have copied files at least twice as fast. So it looks like this game doesnt like certain DVD drives. go figure.. this needs to be resolved ASAP. Im not buying a new drive for this game.

Have you tried updating the firmware of your HP DVD burner? Vegas was supplied on a Dual Layer DVD and some readers don't handle that well.

Chances are that the file it had an issue with was on the 2nd layer.

What's your DVD-ROM Drive's model and have you looked for a firmware update?

You could try to copy all the files from the DVD onto your hard disk and then launch the installation from there.

In any case, if you've installed it (by using the other DVD-ROM), you should be fine to play after.

Hmm., that sounds logical. Though I did originally copy the files from the disc to my HD, and it was the same problem. But as they say.. garbage in; garbage out.

I will try to update the firmware and i will definitely give it another shot.. stay tuned.. thanks for the suggestions
