So I've finished installing, and it asks for my key when I try to play. I put it in, it works. It starts "validating my dvd", the bar fills up 11 blocks and my computer hard freezes. There is no sort of emulation software running, what is going on? I did extensive searching and didn't come up with anything that answered this issue.

I read somewhere that some models of DVD drives don't work nice with the StarForce protection that is on the DVD.

Change your DVD drive with a friend's and try again... it may be your DVD drive.

My friend installed fine and he has the exact same model I have.

Ahem...bulls**t. I have a desktop theme running and I never had a problem starting up the game and playing.

(using the neowin patch anyway)

I also suggest a Firmware Update of your DVD Drive's Firmware and if that isn't working either deactivate so called virtual drives like Nero, Alcohol 120%, CloneCD / CloneDVD, Daemon Toolz etc. (even a Deinstallation of these Problems might be necessary to run SCCT)! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
If the game is still not running then you should consider to install the Starforce Update (http://www.star-force.com/protection.phtml?c=91) which will enable the support of a few more CD/DVD Drives by enhancing the Compatibility of the Starforce Driver! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
