In the Black Keys song "The Next Girl" there's the portion of the song with hammer ons on the 4th fret... and I nail it, but as soon as I hit the sustain, I get the arrow pointing UP as if I'm out of tune.

It doesn't happen every time though. I'm keeping my finger close to the bottom part of the fret.

Just wondering if it's my technique (move my finger in the middle, it tends to happen less) or possibly a bug? My guitar looks to be in tune.

hmm. check the intonation on that string by ensuring the string is in tune, then play that string at the 12 fret and see if it is sharp or flat. it SHOULD be very _very_ close to the same pitch as the open string (just one octave higher).
if it's sharp or flat when you play the 12th fret, then your intonation is out.

google/youtube "intonation" for instructions on how to fix it

hope that helps

was it out a bit? adjusting the intonation/tuning resolved the issue?
