UPDATE: I found the solution to my problem. Scroll down to read it.

Hello, this is a problem with the FULL HOMM 5 game, not the demo. I have a normal spyware-free computer, a Pentium 3Ghz with 512 MBRAM with the Windows XP Home Edition with SP2.

My problem is that I can't install the game. The story is this: Once I got the disk I popped it in and began installing. It went normal for a while, until someone in the house screwed with the electricity, so our house blacked out and my computer shut down with the install still incomplete.

After the power was restored, I made the mistake of deleting the incomplete HOMM 5 folder in Program Files. Then, I did Configuration > Software and deleted HOMM 5. I also went into the registry and deleted the HOMM 5 things there. Somehow, it didn't get off the list in the Software panel. I tried uninstalling it several times. Installshield Wizard always pops up like normal, and it completes like normal, but I have a feeling nothing happens!

Then, I tried installing the game again. But when Installshield Wizard opens, it only tries to uninstall the game. So I click okay, and it tries to uninstall. But nothing happens! In the Configuration > Software panel, HoMM 5 is still there! I tried setup.exe again from the disk, and it still only wants to uninstall! But I can't uninstall! Therefore, I can't install the game at all, because the setup.exe only wants to uninstall the game first, which it can't.

I do not know of a way to solve this. I can't install the game, without uninstalling first. Probably the way to solve it is to manually delete any trace of HoMM 5 from my computer, but I don't know how. I just need a way so that InstallShield Wizard doesn't detect that my computer has HoMM 5 installed anymore. Can anyone help me? Any help would be GLADLY appreciated.

UPDATE: I found the solution to my problem. I was browsing in the support forum of Ubisoft and checked the FAQ's of other games. One of them showed me how to 'fool' Installshield Wizard into thinking the game (in this case Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter) wasn't installed.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

Open My Computer then open the Local Disk (C: )
Open the program files folder.
Click on the tools menu then choose folder options
Click on the view tab and tick the box labelled "show hidden files and folders". Press OK
Open the installshield installation information folder
Search for a folder named {EFC97089-04D6-42CE-A707-A343B4A7D2CD} <--(for Ghost Recon only)
Right click on the folder and choose rename. Press the End key on the keyboard and type the word OLD. Press the enter key

Reinstall the game using the original install disk.
This will replace and overwrite any missing components that were preventing the game from being uninstalled normally

The weird string of letters only apply for Ghost Recon. It was easy to find out which string is for HoMM 5. I just sorted the folders to 'Last Changed', so the newest folder showed me the HoMM folder. I opened it and checked the text file that was in it to confirm it was HoMM 5. For my version, the string for HoMM in the InstallShield Installation Information folder is:

{20071984-5EB1-4881-8EDB-082532ACEC6D}

Use this string in the instruction in the quote. I updated this thread so other people with the same problem can see now how to solve it.

Your da man Exlor, u and unreal. Used both your tip.
I did as unreal said and went into regedit as he told: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=4...991048344#5991048344 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=4611096804&m=3081086344&r=5991048344#5991048344).

But then I did as u said and renamed the key: {20071984-5EB1-4881-8EDB-082532ACEC6D}
After that I could install the game again.
So you guys are the heroes of the day=)
