Calling Paper Dragon- A question about the KI

I don't need the ability to play online to use the KI, right? I can't figure out how to activate my KI. I put the mouse on the bottom left of the screen and I don't see a blue circle! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif I hit the F5 key and nothing happened. I don't see any pictues in the file folder.
Another question regarding Bahro Caves. I went to Gahreesen and used the Journey door. I don't see a handprint on the wall and it's not orange in there, it's still blue. So what do I have to do?

Just read your bahro cave part, after I posted the section below. You could have data corruption in the age. Maybe you should try resetting it. To do this, go you you Relto and clich on the book holder and the botton of the book; it has a square with a period in it. This will cause the book to slide into the book self. Then go to the bahro pole, where you orginally got the book, and link. This will reset all puzzles, and might solve you problem.

This implies you have not picked up you KI from Gahreesen.

This is the fortress age, with the big, massive, heavy doors. When you enter this age one of the first things you will see is a sign about the KI. If you explore around you will find a hugh pot belly machine, that you can click on. This will cause you to put your left hand in it and retrieve you KI.

I have the KI already. I got it in the beginging when I first started to play. Is there a certain number of times I have to stick my hand in the machine or something?

F2 toggles through the various KI modes... small screen, full screen, and "off."

F5 should take a picture and cause your KI to come up in full screen mode.

The Bahro cave isn't supposed to be orange yet. It's blue for now.

If the handprint is NOT there, that can only be due to some type of bug. And I don't think deleting and restarting an Age (i.e. Gahreesen) will fix a bug or file corruption in the Bahro cave.

You MIGHT want to backup your SAV folder and do a reinstall of the game to see if that fixes things. If you keep you SAV folder intact, you can pick up where you left off.

I have the same problem - I definitely got the Ki in Gahreesen (strappy thing on hand) but nothing appears at the bottom of the screen or when I press F5.

I have completed a lot of the puzzles by the old-fashioned method of using pen & paper to copy the clues. Maybe I could just live without the Ki - or is it vital for something else?

oh yeah...that...I was thinking about the calibration thingy and stuff...See? played it through umpteen times and it just made me forgetful!

Thanks for the comments, obviously I do need a working Ki!
I tried Reverend Vader's suggestion & backed up the SAV folder & reinstalled but nothing has changed - guess I'll just have to reset everything & start again.... Lucky I came across the forum or I wouldn't have realised what the Ki was supposed to do.

The KI didn't do anything for me (anything active anyway) until I installed the 1st expansion, which is free!

Now that I have that expansion, can anyone tell me what the KI can do aside form take photos (as long as it isn't a spoiler)?

Well, you now need to calibrate it - as you have the first expansion, explore the city and eventually you'll find a book that explains the calibration.
