Ok. So some friends and I bought RvS cause we just completed Ghost Recon coop and it was hella fun. Anyways.. it wont install on any of our pcs cause cd2 is unreadable. Now going through the faqs and some threads it seems like this is some kind of copy protection. But what I dont understand is what configurations does this game actual install on? I know on mine it has pretty much no chance in hell cause i have daemon tools, alcohol, nero and use a dvd-r drive. I took out the dvdr drive and put in a cd-rom and it didnt work so i didnt bother trying anything else. On my second pc it has none of those apps on it but it has a cdrw which also doesnt work.
On my other friends pc he has almost the same apps as me plus a dvd-rom as well. However as with mine cd2 no werkies.
And to the last friends pc. Its a somewhat old pc with no burning apps installed, no shady apps installed, no cdrw or dvdrw installed! Only a dvd-rom.. and yet cd2 is still not readable. So how did we manage to get the game installed? We had to download a cd2 copy off bittorrent which worked for my 2 friends but not for me. I had to copy the files from the copy to the hard drive to get it to install. And on top of that we all need no cd cracks or to mount an image of the warez copy in daemon tools just to run the game lol.
Anyways.. if anyone at ubi cares.. and i'm sure they dont. This form of protection is not the way to go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I mean most ppl would have just returned the game and got another copy and when it didnt work again they would have got their money back. There are better ways to enforce copy protection than this. I've never seen anything like this on other games i've bought and I hope I never do again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Thanks.

And please dont do this with Ghost Recon 2.. else you just lost 3 consumers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Sounds more like one to me. Have your other friends go buy RvS and give it a try.

Could be your MOBO and not the game.
