USS John F. Kennedy, underway somewhere way too long! Only good part is something not on our side just lost the game!
Yes, this sort of like Mission Planning and Execution for TeamUSA events!

About to catch a helo off USS McFaul DDG-74 on my way to Sicily...to go HOME!
Underway, much much too long, and very exhausted! The guy with his eyes closed is an RAF Nimrod pilot, a superb fellow. He was onboard to coordinate operations with RAF aircraft in the area. We Americans speak English so poorly that they had to send in an expert! In the almost 30 years (Nov this year)that I've done my work, I've gotten to spend "quality time" with many other Navies and Air Forces. The RAF Nimrod is one of the best, if not the BEST patrol aircraft in the world. The RAF aircrews are outrageously proficient... Remember, it's the PILOT, not the aircraft (but in this case, the aircraft helps!)

Cool pics TX-Gunslinger

What rank do you hold? I didnt know they had Nimrod guys operating as Liason officers to other services cool !

The Nimrod is a great plane Ive seen it constantly at airshows in the UK its slow speed handling is amazing and apparently it can cruise on 2 or even 1 of its 4 engines. Even if its based on a design close to 60 years old its best replacement in RAF service is yet another Nimrod !

Thanks. I'm a civilian these days. I was in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1989 (14 years) and at the time I left the service I was a Chief Petty Officer having just been selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer (U.S. E-8).

As a civilian, I've continued on in the same warfare area (Anti-Submarine Warfare/ASW) as a senior analyst, tactical & campaign advisor, training specialist and "trusted advisor" to operational staffs, system developers and research institutions. That's about all I will say with regard to my present "day" job. The pictures that I posted are all from my "day" job and span 1999-2002.

In my career i've worked with the Nimrod, P-3, Aurora and Atlantique aircraft/aircrews in briefing/debriefing, mission planning and post mission analysis for many years. These days, I'm more concerned with SH-60 series helicopters and Lynx types, although I still pay attention and occasionally work with Maritime Patrol Aircraft from many nations.

The Nimrod aircraft and crews always impressed me. The crews because they possesed a cohesiveness that I rarely ever saw in US non-reserve crews. The Royal Air Force and Navy (also many others) understand that keeping crews together by much longer tour lengths, pays great dividends. We've never really made this a priorty on the U.S. side of the house, for many reasons, some valid (like vast numbers of arduous duty stations around the world), some invalid.

The P-3 is also an awesome aircraft, and is incredibly tough and very fast. To be frank, I'd rather fly as an aircrew aboard the Nimrod operationally (it's been a few years since I've been aboard one so things might be different now). The Nimrod engineers and Royal procurement system appears to me, actually listen much better and respond to inputs from the "troops" than our "defense-industrial complex". The sensor stations aboard the Nimrod are much more practical and well thought out than anything we had on the U.S. side. Well, actually the P-3B update or "Super=Bee" was better, but it was quickly replaced by the P-3C. This is a common problem, as soon as we learn our lessons and properly modify an existing design, we throw it away and start over.

The staffing of allied commands is routinely augmented, especially in NATO, with experienced warfighters from all manner of nations and areas, as approriate to the task at hand. Nimrod aircrews have a much different vocabulary, particularly in the technical domain, than their U.S. counterparts. Those guys are worth their weight in gold.

If you have any more questions or thoughts, please post them in GD outside this thread, as I don't want to highjack this one.

Glad you found the pictures interesting.

Is this picture from Romania?

Yeahh, the Volga is very familiar too. The T-34/85 is cool too.

2. What are you doing Friday night?

By the way, you're very good-looking! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

Heh......no thanks...Been there, done that on these forums. Too many poorly raised adolescents from 15-50 feeling "internet untouchable" to post more pics here. Not worth the aggravation in many forms after.

If you mean MY comment, for example, forgive me, but I in no way intended to offend... anybody...!!

She IS gorgeous, don't you agree? Besides, I live on an island in the Atlantic Ocean, Tenerife (Canary Islands), so there's no threat on my behalf as far as insisting on that date is concerned, is there?

I meant the lady in your picture, not in your sig. The one in your sig looks A LOT like you, but somehow I didnâ´t think it was the same person as in the picture. The gun gave it away(?)

I was kidding about your 12,000+ posts, it's obvious why you should have so many.

So, how do you feel about small islands in the middle of the ocean? Can I show you around, say, friday night? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It was an honour for me to work on this aircraft. The cables for the elevator trim where halve the tension they should be. I corrected that. However, the table in the maintenance book was in metric units (kg/m) and the tool I head for measuring was in Imperial units (lb/ft) The pilot must've felt it when I was done with those cables http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Funny thing really, the S-11 is alot bigger then a Cessna. And it has a seperate trim system, not the cheap rubbish with the elevator moving in the opposite direction as their corresponding trim tabs.

Yes, I would love to own a gun, yes, I would keep it safe, but I WOULDN'T change our laws so that everyone could own a gun, just so that I could get one.

Hell, every idiot running around with guns would be so scary! (In my opinion)

I bet your criminals still have a fair share of guns. Gun laws only hurt the citizens that follow the law. Criminals will always have a weapon...FACT http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

My gun-safe is in the background if that makes anybody feel safer.

I tend to agree with VMF-214_HaVoK on who is harmed most by gun laws.

On the other side of the coin, it is a lot easier to certify and keep an ex-military airplane in Europe than here. And don't even get started on the rules for wooden construction aircraft!

LMAO, I dont wanna start a gun debate but what u say is complete RUBBISH!

In 2002, there were 30242 gun deaths in the US.

In the UK there were 6.

Sorry but that just shows that your statement is absolutely so wrong that it couldnt be more wrong.

Hey gentlemen,

First, let me say none of my weapons are technically classified as "Full Assault Rifles" All of my rifles are classified as Curios and Relics(50yrs old plus, yada yada yada), and are owned for historical purposes.

As for gun control, some famous political people say it best:
"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future." Adolph Hitler, 1933.

"To disarm the people [is] the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason, American patriot.

Some history from The Truth Seeker:
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves were rounded up an exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945 13 million were thrown into concentration camps.

Ok, stopping now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif The best solution would have been if the gun were never invented, but that will not happen. As a law abiding US citizen, it is my privilege to own firearms, in my case, it's a way to hold some real history in my hands, and that's something not everyone can say.

Alright, not wanting to bug anyone, just stating my opinions http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

well its a long story every year they drain the
irrigation canals and its open for savage that means you can get as many trout as you want but
sturgeon are on the endanger list here that sturgeon got tangled in my gill net so we called the fish and game officer for wallcot park we moved it back up to the lake the officer took the pic for me there was a bigger
sturgeon in the canal but when i grab its
tail it knocked me off my feet and got away
seem like this pair of sturgeon stay in the canal all summer then go back to this deep hole
where the water last all winter till they fill the canal for summer O by the way the spot i got this fish is about half mile down the canal
comming out of lake wallcot nationl park i would like to catch one of them on rod and reel
catch and relese of corse my biggest bass is 5 lb smallmouth /14LB canalcat and untold amount and size of trout

I lived in Miami for four years from 1982 to 1986. Those days Sunny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs used to walk around dressed up juuuuuuuust like you...

Sunny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs?

You kidding, man?

Sunny Crockett (aka Don Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (aka Philip Michael Thomas) from the cult TV series Miami Vice. The only vice squad in the entire universe and beyond that could afford its agents driving around in Ferrari's (a black Daytona and a white Testarossa), very close to real life, I've been told... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

LMAO, I dont wanna start a gun debate but what u say is complete RUBBISH!

In 2002, there were 30242 gun deaths in the US.

In the UK there were 6.

Sorry but that just shows that your statement is absolutely so wrong that it couldnt be more wrong. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

* Over 4,000,000 people visit the emergency department every year due to a car accident.
* 42,000 deaths are reported every year from car accidents.
* Nearly 10% of car accident victims become disabled.
* 2 out of every 5 deaths in car accidents are alcohol related.

Hey! lets ban cars next. Do you see how silly this debate can get. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
