Yes, I'm really thinking about this, I mean, the only things that made the wii the great console it is are the motion controls, and now the PS3 and 360 has there own motion controllers.
Some people would say "Move (The PS3 thing) is just a new WiiMote" but if you compare, u would see that Move is better than the WiiMote because of the PSEye and the 3D thing, and Natal is, well ... Natal .

and they have the graphics ...

so what do u think ?

Yes, the wii days ARE over

You think nintendo is going to do something

or No, the Wii days aren't over ?

P.S Please excuse my bad language but English is not my original language.

Wii will live on becous for PS move you need the PSEye (camera) and for most of the games you need 2! Move controlers so more money for SONY, and for Natal well you need alot of space infront your TV which not everyone has.

I have yet to experience Natal or Move, but I have experienced the wiimotion plus and I like it very much. Nintendo will keep costs at a minimum and keep innovating to find the next great thing(instead of copying and releasing the same product over and over with better graphics). No, the Wii is not dead and I think the sales will show that.

You also have to consider the price of Natal and Move. The move is (rumored from a reliable source) to have a $100 price tag a launch, Microsoft hasn't said anything regarding Natal's price.

Also, just how many Wii only owners are going to buy a $250 PS3, then a $100 controller and several $60 games to use it? That's a lot of money.

But I'd do it. Why? Because Nintendo's products (games) are shallow demonstrations of the wii-remote or wiimotion plus. Take Deadspace extraction, Wii sports resort, hell even Red Steel 2.
They may be good, even great games, but they are short or fun for a while, then what?

On the PS3 you get several HUGE multiplayer games, Move support is enourmous, and developers actually make games that give you your money's worth. Take Fallout 3, Killzone 2, Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain etc.

If developers gave the Wii games that have replay value or multiplayer or DLC, then things would be very different.

To answer your question, "Are the wii years over?" I say they never started.

well not really. when the wii released everyone got exited about it. the wii years sort of started then but it really died out after that. that's wen ps3 and x-box took their time to shine

Nope, the wii years will continue on and on, and the attempts of the other consoles to mimic the wii just shows that the system is strong.

Simple games on the Wii are staying competitive with big production games on other consoles.

Let alone, nintendo downloads are huge dollars for the Wii, and I dont think they are going to scrap a cash cow like that.

Will people stop playing the wii because there are other consoles with cameras and maybe a controller or two?

Nope, the wii has a faithful market that are looking forward to exclusive games like the next Link game, metroid, pikmin, mario, etc etc etc.

Nintendo may come up with a new console eventually, but as that big exec of nintendo said, they will wait for the next big fad to hit and see if its worth gearing a console for it.

Did anyone else see the teasers about a 3d ds?

I wonder if nintendo may be experimenting to see where the 3d fad goes.

I don't think it's over yet. Ubisoft has been hugely leading the charge of late with (hopefully) quality games exclusively designed for the system. For example, they aren't porting the new PoP. It's just going to be it's own unique thing, which is a good idea. I think we at least have one great year of the Wii ahead of us before it dies

I'd say it's a bit too early to call the downfall of Nintendo.

While Move looks very promising at the moment, I imagine it'll end up going through similar growing pains to what the Wii motion controls have gone through. The PS3 will definately get some amazing motion controlled games down the line, the only question, I think, is how many trials & errors will it take before devs get a good handle on the technology. And that hundred dollar tag likely won't do it any favors. Sony would be very smart to rethink those price points if they're seriously hoping to attract brand new gamers to the console.

Now Natal....it's just too big of a question mark at this point. By all accounts I've read, nobody is quite sure what to make of it yet and developers are reportedly having major difficulties just figuring out how to effectively incorporate the damn thing into their games.

Honestly, I'd be very surprised if motion controls become a game changer for the HD twins. Maybe in the short-run. But they'll likely run into the same obstacles the Wii has.

Ask this question when the next generation rolls around. That's when things are really going to get interesting.

edit: I'll also say that Nintendo's fate for the rest of this generation is going to hinge immensively on what their software line-up ends up looking like for the rest of this year and into the next one. Maybe they really will have something up their sleeve for E3.
